In this video I make twelve C-Clamps from the steel remains found at home. All I bought for this project is: 2 metres of steel thread, twelve nuts and washers (total spent 3 $).
I am happy with the outcome.
Thanks for watching.

Nice job. Who needs an entire machine shop at their disposal when you have a cutoff wheel and a welder. I enjoyed watching this. Well done and thumbs up.

Simple & fine fab! Morten Mortensen's comment & I must say I would also be quite pleased with the outcome as well! It is amazing what can be made/achieved at home for almost nothing. Not to mention exceeding the quality & performance of many a commercial/store bought product. & if things you make don't perform as well as you anticipated for some reason you only have to make simple adjustments or you can scrap entirely & repurpose...I see it as win/win! Great job! No need to tie up the drawing board over & over on such things as clamps!

Cool. Additional wire, probably all the same superfluous. More work, and not a significant increase in rigidity. And the rest is excellent. Well done.

You are my brother... we put 80% of scaffolding effort for final 20% of real/core work... and would not think of putting that C channel right on top of those woods to hold tight... (so funny to see myself as in a mirror...) Never the less they are useful to stuff them in garage... Very nice and good work... and very study hands to get those groves on the rods... best regards

Nice build my friend, want to save time and money!most people say its dangerous but if you have common sense its simple.Ive been doing it for years. If you have a beam like that or any rusty scrap you want to weld for ex. you cut your 12 pieces before worrying about rust then you submerge it all in some pool acid(hydrocloric acid) outdoors obviasly and watch the rust and even mill scale disapear rinse in bakingsoda and water and your good to weld with NO problems!

I like this idea better than all the wood clamps I have seen made. The only thing I think I will change is to buy bolts with heads on them instead of the all thread rod with the T handle welded on. That way I can use a battery impact drill to quickly screw and unscrew the length of the clamp. All in all, a great project for clamps that will last forever.

Stephen Landry I like your idea, and I bet you could actually have it both ways. Cut the T bar in half, and weld each piece just below the bolt head. Leaving the bolt head exposed for use with drill, but t bar for easy hand tightening... just a thought!

Crank it up higher, use a smaller rod, or grind a better spot for the ground. These three things are nearly always the issue when you get sticking. Source: welded for 2½ decades, on all kinds of metals.

Not the prettiest thing I have seen, but it is inexpensive and easy to make. For use in woodworking, I think adding some softer pads (plastic of wood) on the places where clamping pressure is applied is preferable to avoid damaging the wood.

Hola.

As a woodworker who also occationally does metal work and other projects, one of the things I find are the most expensive is labor. Had this person taken into consideration and kept track of how much time it took him to do these things (video doesn't show how long it took to make the clamps) I think he would have regret doing them. I can buy "C" clamps for less than what I make in hour, and use my time doing things that will increase my skills or don't involve re-inventing the wheel. I know many people feel that making it yourself has a value of their own, but is it really that economical? don't think so, some tools is worth doing yourself, cheap clamps you can buy for very little money? Nah.

May I suggest that you make the screws of different length. By making them even you have to keep them away from each other as it is shown when you tried to place the clamps in the middle of the board and then another one precisely opposite to it and you had to move it. I guess you got it. If you decide to adopt it, lend me an email. I would like to see it.
