Thanks very much for taking the time to show us this. I was about to buy a mini wire bender but your home made one looks a lot better and more useful, I am now going out to the workshop to attempt to make one. John

Hope it goes well. I use mine all the time and save lots of money on hardware. Hope you saw my video on making wire hardware with it. Thanks for watching and letting me know you plan to make one!

Hello, Thanks for replying, I did make one as you described though perhaps not as neat as yours, I had to cut the bolts with a hand hacksaw which was quite hard work. I knew that the block of metal 1" square and about 5" long would come in useful one day! I have indeed watched your other video on using the device, very helpful. It's so nice that people such as yourself spend time showing others how to do things, I hope you know how helpful your videos can be. John

Thanks for sharing this. I bend 1/16 stainless steel spring wire. Very very stiff. A loose low holding pin would give me a lot of trouble. Maybe with some practice I could get used to it. A tighter or notched hold down would be better. My bending jig is not nearly as versatile as yours, I have a 1/4" bending post, and a small handle with another 1/4" post, the wire distance, then a hole that sits on the bending post. This will keep the wire in place. I'm trying to figure out the best way to make half-turns, then another half-turn vertical 90 degrees from the first. Wire that is similar in ductility to the political sign wire is Field Guardian 9-Guage Aluminum Wire, it's used for fencing and artists use it for armatures (it's not as soft as armature wire, so it's better for larger projects). Don't know about the specific brand, it's just what I have. Of course political sign wire is much more cost effective.

Thanks for the information, I'll have to check out the Guardian wire.

Good, simple design- thank you :-) I don't have the press drill to make this jig but I do wonder why a manufacturer doesn't offer something similar for sale. Super simple but effective.

Thanks! I agree, I don't know why someone doesn't sell them.

I think it's because it's too simple--you can't trademark or patent it and thus be the only one selling it.

You know, a block of hardwood might work out if you don't have any steel lying around. This is a great idea!

That's a great idea. I might have to give that a try. It would be a lot easier for people to make.

I would love to buy one from you... I also save the political sign wire... I collect and restore old kerosene lanterns, and often need to make parts from wire... bought a wirebender tool that has an aluminum body with steel pins, but had a corner chip off--steel would be much better... let me know if you would make and sell one, and how much ! Thanks !

I appreciate the kind words. Unfortunately, I am not interested in making them to sell. Your lantern restoring sounds interesting, I have always liked them. Thank you for watching!

Soat Mon I understand... I may try making one using your very helpful video... I also have a set of the "Harry Higley Wire Bender Set (HIGHWB011), made of steel, and to be used in a vice, and they have been working out so far... much better than the aluminum body wire bender with steel pins that I bought... I always like searching for better tools and ideas ! Thank you !
