An onion chopper will chop not only onion, but just about any vegie you need to chop. I use mine for peppers, carrots, garlic, potatoes and so on. I have days I cannot stand long to cook; and when my supply of chopped veggies is not enough I use my chopper. It can be a little hard to push down on some vegies, but it is worth it.

Put a thermometer in your oven to confirm the temperature. Don’t rely on the gauge/dial. It seems your oven may run cooler than what you’re setting it at. A thermometer inside your oven will let you know if you need to up the temp. Glad your finger isn’t broken. 🎉 Sending healing prayers🙏

It does take longer for a gas oven to preheat when baking, most times. I have found that if you have a convection gas oven that it heats up more quickly and circulates the air more evenly keeping the temp better for baking. Just not that if you use your convection baking button, its often a good idea to set it for 25 degrees cooler than the recipe calls for unless your oven runs cold.

Back in 2020 I broke that same finger in the same place at my work. It took a couple of weeks for the break to finally show on X-rays because of the swelling. After about 8 weeks it finally healed. I still can’t bend it fully like I could before. Hope you don’t have any lingering problems with your finger Kimmie.

I did the same thing to my middle finger playing Volleyball in high school Umpteen years ago lol. And now every time the weather gets colder or I bent the finger for too long it clicks. And its a bit painful. Watch out for that in the future after your finger is healed. Heres to a speedy recovery. ❤

I'm glad your finger is not broken! If your oven is Samsung, I have that oven. I have had the regulator go out twice. If you hear the gas going on and off while it's preheating it's probably that. I will also turn the oven off when it says it's up to temp and double check. If the regulator is off it will not be up at temp when I start the oven again right away. I will use the convection setting if it's not working until my husband can fix it. The convection will make the oven a bit hotter and circulate the air around the whole interior. The best thing about the Samsun oven is the proof setting for bread. Your bread will proof so much quicker. love that.

Re gas ovens. When I tested my gas oven with a thermometer, I found that it held the right temperature, but it took far longer to preheat than the ding led me to believe. So, everything took longer than it should have to bake. Once I started preheating long enough (usually about 20 minutes instead of 10), all my baked goods came out great according to the recipe timing.

Sometimes, I form meatloaf into patties and cook them on the George Forman grill. Meatloaf in 10 minutes or less! This is usually in the summer, because I don't use the oven when it's really hot outside. I think I'll try the muffin cups while it's cold.

I have a gas stove too and had to adjust the oven temperature. The manual should tell you how to adjust it, I had to make mine 10 degrees hotter. Put a thermometer in the stove and let it heat up for about 15 minutes before you read the temp (after it preheats) then adjust if needed. Before we figured out how to adjust the temperature, we set the stove ten degrees higher.

I have a gas oven. My best advice is to use an oven thermometer to check ehat the temperature actually is. My oven will often be 50° off of what it says the temperature is. Using an oven temperature helps you to adjust accordingly. The second tip is to wait another 5-10 minutes after it says its heated before you open the oven and put something in.

With gas oven the heat/flames is usually right at the bottom or even at the sides. Very rate at the top. Because none is directly below i usually end up with bread that is white at the top and perfectly brown on the bottom or sides. If i use medium settings and put my bread higher instead of the middle rack it would get some color. Hope this helps. Sometimes i just flip the bread upside down in the pan😂

Kids eating off your plate is actually the best way to develop their pallet. I you ask them if they want nutritious food they will most always say no. But fix a plate more than you can eat and sit by them and let them eat your food and you can talk to them about it too…why you love the taste/crunch/texture. Does it hold a memory for you? How do you feel when you smell/taste it. What other ways do you like it. What does it bring to their mind when they eat it? How does it taste to them? What do they like about the food? Does it taste like they thought it would? What’s different? Or just sit with them and share the plate and say nothing. Both is developing, nourishing and bonding. ❤

I'm also allergic to the protein in animal milk, cow, goat, whatever it makes me sick. I love Loopy Whisks bread from her cookbook Baked To Perfection. Following her guidelines I make my own gluten free flour blend.
