Great vid. Does it matter if the parking brake is on or not? I also live in the n.e. and the rotors have been impoasible to get off. Its my mothers car and of course she waited until the brakes were on the rotora to asl me to replace them.
@HomeownerRepair4 ай бұрын
If you are replacing just the front rotors then the parking brake will not come into play. If you need to also replace the rear brake rotors and pads, then the parking brake should be off so that you can remove the rear brake rotor. Hope this helps you out.

What is the silver seal what he is putting on the screws ?
@HomeownerRepair6 ай бұрын
It is anti-Seize thread lubricant. Here is a link to it on Amazon. amzn.to/3RFoSOr #ad

is it necessary to put the two philips screws back in? I work on the assembly line building the vehicles and was told that their only purpose is to keep the rotor stable during the assembly process at the assembly plant.
@HomeownerRepair Жыл бұрын
That seems to be the purpose of them. If they are in good condition we typically put them back in.

Does the fact that this model doesn't have that wire spring (like on the later sportage model) that used to push out the pads cause them to wear faster?
@HomeownerRepair8 ай бұрын
I don't think to. It typically comes down to how you drive the vehicle and also the climate that you live in. The North East is brutal on cars.

Thanks for sharing, great video! I have just had mine done but getting a squeal when travelling under 30MPH from on of the wheels, any idea what that could be?
@HomeownerRepair2 жыл бұрын
It might be a brake caliper pin that wasn't lubricated properly.

What did he use to use unscrew the rotor off with? What that tool called
@HomeownerRepair8 ай бұрын
It is a hand-held impact driver. Here is a link to them on Amazon..It's a must have for the toolbox: amzn.to/49M2tF0

If you do one side at a time you shouldn't have to.

Don't you clean the Rotor? It's covered with a thin sheet of oil.
@HomeownerRepair Жыл бұрын
Yes we did. We always clean the rotor with brake cleaner before installing them on the vehicle.
