The art world is better for you being in it. Your perspective and analysis always gives me something new to think about and keeps this 72 year you artist discovering new information about artists, art materials and techniques. As a watercolorist, I especially appreciate your videos on the subject. Thank you!

So happy to have you in KZbin! This is a wonderful lesson to x-ray Winslow Homer’s painting and discover how he did it. Now I appreciate his paintings a lot more than before. Thank you! One thing I noticed was that in the darkest areas, as well as in the lightest ones, there are details with information. From photography I learned never to have the darkest darks or lightest lights without details. I don’t always find this in paintings but Homer did it brilliantly. I love your lessons Jill! I hope you are well. ❤

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Liliana - Great to hear from you! That's such an interesting additional bit of information. I actually haven't heard that, but it makes sense.

This is fantastic Jill! Thank you for sharing your analysis of these Homer's seascapes. You have pointed out much that I didn't see on my own. Inspiring!

My eye invariably ends up resting with the illuminated part of the sky, and its reflection on the water. This, for me, must be where Homer wants to lead us. The focal point of this painting. - I very much appreciate your rich and precise art films here! I watch them all!

Yes, I can see that. It could be that spot, too. When I look at it from a distance, my eye is drawn there as well. I wish we could ask Homer! Glad you enjoy my work.

Thank you for explaining his use of muted colors. As you point out, seeing the work in a museum face-to-face is an unforgettable valuable experience. They have some in MFA (Boston, MA USA) that I always see when I visit. I love your videos! THANK YOU Loli

Thanks, great analysis, I love to hear and learn more from your analysis. I somehow feel that the wave in the front could be better "integrated", it seems to lay on the sea instead of being one. Perhaps the wave is a bit too dark and therefore the line towards the shore to visible? I dont know. Thank you again.

Dear Jill, thank you for this wonderful video. I like Homer's works very much. But I can't distinguish very well, with which medium a painting was painted. Are these works oil paintings?
@JillPoyerdFineArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, they are all oil paintings. I didn't realize it's not mentioned, wow.

Only one small suggestion: use an annotation pen in orange or a color compatible with the painting colors. Red seems to at odds here.😅

That's fair. Sometimes, I myself, question the color of the highlighter. I like it to be visible/striking....but not irritating. I'll check into it, although some to-be-released are already set.
