I played an outdoor festival this weekend, and the stage was pretty big, and if I stood in a certain spot, my bass was so loud, and it vibrated through my feet and all the way to the top of my head. I was actually thinking about Homer vibrating when I was playing (god, I love being a bass player!).

I've always loved the bass so took up playing it. I'm only a few months in and am self taught (no one in my town teaches/plays) so it's a bit slower going but I'm loving it. A sound doesn't necessarily have to be complex to be incredible. There's a lot of simple but amazing bass lines.

At least in my experience it is true, I joined a band about 2-3 weeks ago and they needed a Bassist, so I got one and instantly picked it up in a day or so, it was really easy for me, still though my fingertips look like they’re herpes on my hand so it’s not all fun

Playing lead on bass is also really fun, as well as chords etc. You should check out bassists like Charles Berthound and Les Claypool; Virtuosos that manage to make the bass more difficult to play than the guitar.

@@soyum4476 lol! I've been playing bass for 35 years. Fwiw, lots of bass players ARE the shittiest musician in the band. Bass player sterio types are not without reason. However, most of those "bassists" are failed guitarists. There are plenty of us who play bass because we love the sound/feel/roll of bass. For those of us who wanted to play bass (and didn't get pushed into it), sky is the limit. Good bass makes a band sooooooooo much better. Good starter bass! Enjoy it!

metalmurcielago I turned down purchasing a guitar because they wouldn't sell me a new one and only the floor model. So then after getting some strings I noticed that the bill was $300 and the guy was still trying to ring me up for an insurance plan not only for an instrument I wasn't purchasing but it was an insurance plan turned down buying in the first place

@@veronicalane1458 I don't know for sure, because they don't mention brands, but the headstock is a dead ringer for yamahas. The "double P" means a bass with two precision-style split-coil pickups and it's something of a rarity, sadly. It's the sky blue bass on the top left of the frame.

right on. my first bass was a TRBX174 and i still play it 7 years later. it has great sustain, and it's one of the only P-basses i've seen that has 24 frets. i put some geezer pickups in it and now it's absolutely nasty.
