Wait... You have to have a water barrier between the cement and the rigid foam?

2001 home in mid Michigan here. Can i put the steel stud plates on top of the dricore subfloor or do i have to put it on a pressure treated board on the concrete? Confused on the "homewrap" paper. Do i have to use that between the rigid foam board i glue to the cement wall and the metal framing? Also with the price of wood back sort of normal, is it worth it to invest more money for less time and labor? Im tight on both but also a mom of 3 under 4 so time is important.

Hi Jeff, Two things: First, amazing video! I am a 65 year old woman who has been intimidated by steel framing, and it is getting harder and harder for me to carry 2 x 4s around. Thanks to you, I am prepared to try steel framing for the first time. Second, you mention some source for steel framing supplies, but I do not know what you are talking about. Home Depot does not carry 16' lengths, which is what I need for my project, but I only need a small amount. Can you send me in the right direction? Thank you!

Any advice for steel framing in a garage with a sloped slab? Level it? Plumb it? Follow the slope? I feel drywall is going to be a huge pain, but I don’t want to shim subfloor 2”+ on one side
@jeffowens9692 Жыл бұрын
I just finished pouring a new floor in my basement. It was previously gravel for 30 years before I bought the house. I installed a waterproofing system prior to pouring the slab. I also installed a dimple board sleeve around where the slab meets the wall and footer for moisture to channel into my new french-drain system so there is a gap between the slab and the wall. In your opinion, can I get away with shooting steel track directly to the concrete for my wall framing or should I still use PT as a bottom plate?

I saw some pros use stud crimpers to do massive industrial jobs very fast. What are your thoughts on using crimpers instead of screws? If yes, which one? I can't find a well reviewed tool for some reason. It seems like Stanley makes a couple of them but they are not sold in any physical store I checked online and Amazon is showing like 1.5 months delivery

Unless you are notching the flange for bracing overlap or ears and tongues, it'll be safer to flip the stud/track for blade to web cuts.
