If you remember over the last 8 months, the Chicago area been getting a lot of rain and flooding with the end result was damaged to residences roof and flooding into people's basements.

I'd bet there was a significant roof failure and it seeped through the walls - probably during reno and they assumed it would be okay after all dried. I would have to do a moisture check on all that dry wall and insulation. Bet it's 'hidden' damage as well.

The floor buckled because the water dropped from the ceiling on to the floor.

500k 😂, about 150k and up for repairs 😢 water damage all over the house.. money pit
