Bumper cars, miniature golf, bowling, water park, zoo, special field trip, pick what all meals are for that day, extra recess or longer break during school, your sister makes your bed. Nail polish if they are allowed to wear it or stickers for the nails. Extra turn at their favorite chore or they can skip the chore they dislike the most for the day or two days.

Becky, can you video an update on your reward system? -Any tweaks you made and how often they get a prize. I really enjoy your videos. I only started homeschooling this year, and like seeing your ideas! Thanks!

I'm so glad you like my videos! I haven't really made any changes to our system. Everything is still pretty much the same and the only thing that really changes are the prizes and the ways to earn Loki bucks. If there's a new habit or skill I want them to learn, I'll add that as a way to earn Loki bucks. This system is working better for us than anything we've ever tried before.

Some good prizes that don’t cost anything or very little that you could make as coupons could be - get to stay up late on a weekend by 20minutes, mummy or daddy one on one time to do an activity of the child’s choice (e.g. play a game, bike ride, trip to the park, trip to a museum etc.) , movie night, get to pick out a magazine of their choice from the store, get to eat dessert before dinner, get to pick out a snack of their choice when you go shopping, help mummy make dinner, dinner of the kids choice, one batch of home made cookies/brownies/pancake (whatever baked good the kid loves), 20 minutes extra tv time, build a fort with cushions and blankets in living room, one extra bedtime story, cup of hot chocolate/coco, good for one friend over, stay in your Pyjamas all day (if not going out).

"Craft" and art supplies- those kinds of things would be great. For an experience think of things that each likes to do and maybe you don't (like we live near a park- we can see it from our front yard, but I dislike going- but it's an easy way to get them to cooperate.) A big one for us is spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's house (this is the only place that they are allowed to). It's amazing what kids do when they want something!

I'm prepping for my 2018-19 school year and have done something different for the past 3 years with my kids, but I do love this! I just watched "Homeschool on a Hill" and came here to find some additional ideas. I'm probably going to spend way too much money, but lots of fun $1 ideas. Last year I had a treasure chest and my kid's favorite items were tic-tacs and gum. I love your go out for ice cream/donuts idea. The only thought I had was if one child saved up and another didn't, then it wouldn't work, but if you made it more expensive, maybe call it a "date with Mom" and go out for an hour just the two of you to get a treat. I had a ticket it my chest that offered "25-minute screen time" and they could hand it in at any point during the day and get up, walk away from the lesson, and watch a show. They loved it! If they were struggling with math, spelling, etc ... they could leave it behind and come back to it later. Thanks for sharing!

I think they smell weird, but my daughter and nephew think they are amazing! She loves journals so I would probably add some of those from Dollar Tree. She also loves mad libs! We bought her a few Disney mad lib books for our last Disney trip and she's hooked! Thanks for the great ideas- I might start a reward system like this for chores!

I'm so glad you've been loving this system! I don't have any definite recommendations because it truly depends on your budget and what motivates your kids personally. My girls love little trinkets, stickers, squishies, etc. so I'm always looking for things like that. Dollar Tree is a great place to find fun stickers and washi tape and I usually pick up little things when I find them on sale or clearance.

You have some great ideas here thank you for sharing them. We had a reward system for free time tv when I was a kid, although it was mostly based on reading time so it kinda backfired are we eventually retired it. One system that worked well for us was if one of the kids (or if they worked together) cooked dinner mom would do their dishes that evening, one of us always washed while the other put away then we switched each month. It worked well until dad disbanded the rule in high school when we actually began wanting to cook more often 😥 😂

Yes, it is still working well as long as I make sure we have "desirable" prizes. lol The girls are mostly interested in the prizes that are 15 tickets and higher so it's usually about 1 prize every week or two.

Oh Becky, thanks for the shoutout! I’m so thrilled to see how you’ve customized this system for your girls. And Loki bucks are the cutest!!! I’m constantly tweaking things myself. New prizes, new prices, new ways to earn tickets. People ask me if my oldest son (17) is really into it-you bet he is! We have prizes that include extra screen time, and that’s totally his language. All of my boys would play video games all day if I’d let them. But I’m not that cool of a mom, so they have to earn the extra time they want. P.S. I totally want all of those ice cream erasers just because they’re adorable!!!

I want to start homeschooling but I just don't know where to start I live in Kentucky I would like to know how to get started thanks
@aplacetonest6 жыл бұрын
Great! It's amazing that you have decided you want to homeschool! Kentucky is very hands-off when it comes to homeschooling but you do need to let them know you intend to homeschool. You will have to send in a letter of intent every school year for each child. Also, read up on the laws and requirements at the Kentucky Board of Education website. After that, you just have to do tons of research on what kinds of curriculum is out there and which one you think would best suit your child, their learning style and your ability as their teacher. KZbin comes in very hand for this since so many other homeschoolers share what they are using with their kids. Also, this video might be helpful when it comes to planning each year. It really is my planning process that I do for each girl, each new school year: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZjXhn6farOcaqM&index=28&list=PL2ViP1vFsZemGJkdk-DLivrIvoVinPq2p I really hope that is helpful! :)
