Thank you SO much for this video! We have been using Saxon for the past 2 years and all was well. Until....3rd grade. We have decided to switch to BJU.

What is your weekly schedule using the Bob Jones Distant Learning? We're starting at 9 and ending at 2/2:30 and that's with us doing every single subject (including Bible) every day. I watched your organization video, which was great btw and I actually ended up ordering a cart like the one you have for your kids to use. I'm a VERY organized person but I'm wondering if you can possibly make a video of your "Monday-Friday" subjects. Some homeschoolers are saying they're finishing homeschool in 4 hours and that's just not possible for us since we do every subject every day in order to make sure we meet the 180 day requirement and cover everything we need for 6th grade. :)

We are doing Science and History with our co op this year which starts late August. My older 2 work faster than the youngest. Some days go quicker than others, but we typically do each subject every day. I think we could do a video about our daily schedule. Thank you for your suggestion. :)

I have used BJU Press also and I think there is way too much work to do so I cut it down significantly. Like I cut out subjects or had my kids do every other problem. It’s important to have the curriculum to serve you not you serve the curriculum. Just some suggestions

Thank you so much for this video! I have been using Singapore for my daughter for the last two years, but it always results in both of us in tears and extremely frustrated. She has fallen behind in her math and at this point I am looking for another program that will do the teaching instead of me. Every year I keep eyeballing BJU, but have been deterred by the price tag. I’m about to pull the trigger on BJU distance learning but I’m nervous about about the switch. My daughter’s going into 3rd grade but is only halfway through level 2 of Singapore/Primary Mathematics. Is BJU math ahead of Singapore? Do you think it be better to drop her down to BJU Math 2?

My kids transitioned easily from SIngapore to BJU. They loved the online teacher! Hmmm, If it were my third grader, I would move ahead with 3rd grade, but she has been clicking along on at grade level. There is, of course, a review at the beginning of each grade. And, you could keep Singapore as an occasional review if she is struggling. But, if you started with 2nd grade, it may give her a strong foundation that she can build on for all future grades. If you choose 2nd grade, she will "catch up" later. Catching up doesn't really matter as long as your child is met where she is and is learning instead of hurried along for the sake of the rest of the class. Christina Wilson is a BJU rep and may be able to give you more information about what concepts are taught in each grade and help make your decision easier. www.homeworksbyprecept.com/christina-wilson I apologize for not answering your question, but that decision is ultimately up to you. And even if you choose the "wrong one", you can always change again. This is not a permanent decision. You will be fine, mama. Happy Homeschooling!

We did not love BJU for a whole curriculum and videos. I ended up teaching most of it myself because ky kids hated the videos. And the day was insane for my eldest . We kept math from BJU. I dont love the TG. My eldest has a learning difference so this year we set aside formal math curriculum. I got a book called Learn math fast and we have worked theough all of vol 1 which is about 6 grades of math with no fluff. Vol 2 which we are about to start covers fraction, precents, and decimals. Then we move into Principles of Mathematics. Next year. We did Horizons, Math u See, MFLE, TT plus one I can't recall the name of. Going into year 9 of homeschool this coming year. We like BJU but the TG is not as friendly as other guides. That being said I was terrible at math my whole life and somehow teaching my kids has helped me learn or undestand math I havent before. It is quite amazing.

Yes, I feel you. Math is our favorite subject with BJU. I was never strong in Math as a student. Things are changing for us next year. I'll have to share the changes we are making. BJU DLO was for my sanity during a period. It's not for everyone and it won't be our complete curriculum next year.

What is your thoughts on Saxon math?!
@wholetthekidsout13 жыл бұрын
I haven't used Saxon in our homeschooling, but that is what my school used when I was a student. It's a solid curriculum. Some complain that it's too much busy work, but you can always assign what your student needs. :)

I would like to use BJU distance learning, but I only want to use it for math. Is that possible?
@wholetthekidsout14 жыл бұрын
Yes! You can choose 1 subject or the entire curriculum. If you have any questions about ordering, Christina is a very helpful representative. www.homeworksbyprecept.com/christina-wilson
