One thing , we have done, our entire HS journey, has been fun Fridays! We focus a lot more on interest led topics, playing educational games , baking , educational tv shows/movies , etc . As the kids got older, we were all reading different books , of our own choice . We had a “ book club”, where we would sit & drink decaf coffee or tea & share with one another what we liked & disliked about our books . This worked great if we were all reading the same book as well, but I discovered, it’s still so much fun when we are reading different books! We also had days where we would each get an encyclopedia , pick something random to read about, & share with each other . I think I need to start our “ book club “ & encyclopedia days, back up again!! 😊 It’s the most rewarding thing in the world, to get to bond with your kids ! To break up the monotony, sometimes, one of the kids will do the teaching on a subject ! That is really fun ! 😀

You are amazing !! Even though , I’m homeschooling older children, I gained valuable knowledge from your video. I had no u-tube, when I first started our HS journey . I was primarily dependent on God leading me daily ! I still depend on Him , however, these informative videos of yours, is a blessing & much needed encouragement ! My prayer is for God to help us get through Algebra 2, this year! We will spend the first part of the semester, reviewing Algebra 1. We took a big portion of the summer off . Normally, we do quite a bit of school during the summer. We REALLY needed the break this summer ! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart !!! God bless you, sweet sis in Christ ❤ I look forward to all your videos and I have been watching your older videos, as well . 😊🌸💗

Mrs. Hayes thank you for this very helpful video. I know you're looking for ideas, so would you be able to do a video on how to put together a unit study and can you kindly explain a bit more on how the autodidact sessions work? God bless you and your family.

I second this. I've watched quite a few from other people but I'm still just so lost on how exactly to implement it. I can gather all the things for it, no problem. I've already got a pretty good head start. But what to do each day and how precisely to get lessons planned out? NO CLUE and I feel ridiculous admitting it because it should be, imo, a no-brainer.

Do you have your students use separate notebooks for Notebooking? Say, one for science, one for history, ECT... Or do you just have them put all that they "notebook" into one book as they go?

What age do you start Having your children read their own books?
@MomDelights
@MomDelights Ай бұрын
I don't really go by age, but by ability and maturity. Some children read early, but they can't be trusted to read an entire book on their own unless they are really enthused. I wait until they have more ability to focus.
