🗃️ Does your state require you to turn in a portfolio for review? What system do you use for homeschool record keeping?

Our state doesn't require a portfolio. I use a large binder (I think it is 5 inch), should last at least all the way through elementary and potentially up through middle school depending on how much we keep. I keep our yearly attendance sheets (we have to track attendance, but don't have to turn it in anywhere), and a couple of work samples from each subject from beginning/middle/end of year. I also keep the sheet where I track his weekly test scores for stuff like spelling and math, and any art projects he wants to keep. If it is a project that is too large to fit in the binder, we'll take a photo of it and put the photo into a page protector in the binder.

I have a filing cabinet with 3 drawers for 3 kids. I plan on starting this year and our system will be super similar to your bins, just in the filing cabinet instead. We are preschool, first, and second grade this year.

Don't feel bad because I live in NC and it is the same exact way. The only thing we are required to do is keep attendance & end of the year testing. This is going to be my first year actually keeping a portfolio. Just because we are getting closer to the High school years and I want to make sure.

Mine does, but I haven't done one yet. Im excited to do it though! Im planning to do an old school binder so I can keep it to look back on, kind of like a scrapbook. 😊 I think it will be fun!

That will be fun! I've seen so many creative ideas that look so cute. Mine is definitely more utilitarian 😂
