Join me in looking closely at the Write by Number curriculum 😊 What are you using to teach composition in your homeschool?

Hi, does this curriculum include keyword outlines as in IEW? Please describe the type of outlining taught. This would be very helpful. Thank you! I gave the video a thumbs up. ❤️

@@user-vg8ez9cu6u thank you! I don't see anything in here about a key word outline. As far as I can tell, that's a specific IEW method for organizing ideas in writing. Write By Number teaches different methods for organizing ideas, working one sentence at a time to teach various types of sentences (patterns). Later, it teaches different ways to layer those sentence patterns into a paragraph, and then later still, an essay.

Oh my goodness. As a homeschool mom, I watch a lot of curriculum videos (don’t we all?). Your review of Write by number is hands down the best review video I’ve watched. You answered every question I thought of coming into it and that popped into my head while watching. Great great job ❤ thanks mama!

Wonderful flip through!! Funny you had the post it about “not fun, not magical, etc.” because that was the first thing 9yo said. “But I want to write my own stuff and shove it all in one (run on) sentence!” Told her to trust the process and save the juicy bits for the second and third power sentences and just in a month’s time, her writing has completely taken off! Loving WBN so far.

I bought this after watching your video ans we have used it consistently for the past 4 weeks and i am really liking it. My 8 yr old reluctant writer jut wrote a 5 sentence paragraph all by himself today and it was a great paragraph. My 11 yr old is moving faster through it but he is doing well with it as well. Thanks for the recommendation

Thank you very much for this, I’m really loving having more options that allow children to stay in one program throughout and move at their own pace. For math we fell in love with learn math fast a couple years ago and I think write by number will fit into our family in a similar way. I shared this video to a few friends because you did an excellent job showing the ins and outs and explaining how the program works and could be implemented. Also I agree, the cover/design is very well done 😅❤

Thank you for sharing this! My daughter (and I) struggle with writing thanks to our ADHD so I've been looking for something structured and linear. After trying this curriculum for 14 days, I knew that this was it. For sure, this curriculum is boring and not fun but it's getting the job done. An added bonus is that it doesn't take up a lot of time (so far). Again, thank you for the video.

What size notebook would be appropriate for each school year? Would a one subject notebook be enough?
@OdetoAbode
@OdetoAbode Ай бұрын
@@kellylwong of you're doing writing every day of the school year, you'll probably want a notebook between 180-200 pages. If you're doing it less often, like 1-2x a week, maybe you could get by with 50-80 pages.

Do you need both student books and teacher guide?? I have twins and wasn’t sure if they could share or anything
@OdetoAbode

I would just buy one of each of the TG and S. Kids can share one SB, as they don't need to write in it at all. That's exactly how we're using it with 2 kids :)

Have you used IEW? It would be interesting to see a comparison between the two. I'm looking forward to an update once you have used this for a while and how you will use this with multiple kids( the price would be too much to have each child to have their own book, I would think) Did you buy this on their website or somewhere else?

@@diannaannette6956 I started them at the same point, but my oldest is progressing at a faster rate. So I have one girl on stage one, and another on stage two. The actual instruction time is so short so I'm having no trouble with them being 1:1 right now 😊

Does this help with any sentence level work? Writing good sentences? Or is this more just about putting sentences into the paragraph forms?
@steadfastschoolhouse

Yes, over the entire program, your child will learn those 38 sentence patterns, or types of sentences.
