Love your schedule. Would love to hear about what you guys have for breakfast, snacks and lunch. Make video for that it would be very helpful.

Thanks for sharing! I would love to hear how you schedule time for yourself or any brain breaks for yourself into this homeschool schedule! I can’t imagine being “on” for that many hours.

I think you are doing an excellent job with your schedule and homeschooling four children. We are heading into our third week for this school year and so far, so good. I am homeschooling 6 kids from preschool to high school and spent a lot of time praying about how to do everything. We start with our group time first thing in the morning and then transition into individual subjects. I have a block of time for each student for me to work with one or more of them. We start between 8:30 and 8:45 in the morning and end by 3:30. Of course all of my children are not doing school that entire time.

That sounds wonderful - as the kids get older, I think I will transition into a "morning meeting" type idea before individual subjects!

Thank you for taking the time to post detailed content regarding all things homeschool. I will be homeschooling my kindergartener and preschooler this year (with a toddler around :), and your videos have been soooo helpful to me as I plan and prepare for this upcoming school year.

12:02 I do something similar for my kids for handwriting! It goes much smoother if I supervise!

It's nice your days can be similar and you only have one day out in the morning for enrichment. Out of curiosity....so you attend an evening Bible study with your church or just something on Sunday? I've found that I need that weekly morning accountability and fellowship, but it adds a second morning out of the house besides co-op. Then adding in my son's weekly OT & Speech appointment, it's 3 mornings not at home. We're 1.5 weeks in to homeschooling....but those things slowly start this week and next week. I've been trying to get our routine /schedule set, but I find myself still tweaking it.

Yeah, it is really nice to have a consistent morning schedule - I love the idea of a morning bible study, but I just can't at this time in life ... we do have a small group meeting on Sunday afternoon and I love that it is after church! Just give yourself a bit of time to work out how to shuffle around your schedule, you got it!

Love your schedule! I am also a scheduler and love the process of dreaming up and writing up the school schedule! We have our Poetry tea time scheduled on Tuesday afternoons, and this is the day we try to squeeze in poetry, art study, composer study, and hymn study. It is so much fun for all of us. We are using Abeka for Language since we're still in that Phonics stage. How does Logic of English compare to Abeka's language program?

It’s different in the sense of the way it teaches the phonograms but similar in the fact that neither focus on sight words and such. As for LOE Essentials my daughter had been doing it for the past month and she had to work through some pre lessons to teacher her all the different sounds of each phonogram … she picked it up pretty quickly. Last year she finished up Abeka grade 1.

Do you have your kids signed up for extra curricular activities? When do you squeeze it in?
@sciencemama

Yes but they can only do one - for instance my oldest just finished baseball and my daughter is going to start back up dance. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when my twins want to try sports 🤷🏼‍♀️

How long do you normally read aloud for? A chapter or 20 to 30 mins.
@sciencemama
@sciencemama Жыл бұрын
During our history and science block, it is about 45 minutes … and the read aloud time frame maybe 30 minutes!

I love this! Thank you for showing your schedule as I find myself confused as to how to get our schedule to work for us. How do you keep the times on track so that you don't go over? Do you set a timer for each block? I have written up schedules but then my kids just love working on their subjects so much that they will work more than is on our schedule, especially on their subjects that they can do independently. This is my weak spot and I need to fix this. Last year we started strong but because my eldest kept going ahead in some subjects while behind in others, we got really bogged down and then I had a baby which *REALLY* changed things around, lol 😆
@sciencemama
@sciencemama Жыл бұрын
That sounds really challenging! I don't set a timer ... at this point no one wants to do extra in any subjects. Although, if my son is taking a while on math I have him stop in order for us to do the next block (such as snack + history) and then he picks back up his math - that way we aren't all behind!
