Hi Joy, I'm so grateful you made this video! I have a preschooler who is eager to learn though I have taken a relaxed approach. I live outside of a major US city where everyone is very ambitious and high-achieving. We are even outsiders in our church as everyone chooses to work and have their kids in daycare or school. My child has had early speech, writing and is learning to read at 3 and a half as well and I attribute it to the low pressure environment. We are with her constantly, talking to her, reading to her daily since 5 months, singing songs, playing, dancing, including her. She's thriving and all glory goes to God for giving my husband and I such strong convictions to live in a simple, family-focused way. Other parents at church still question my parenting style even though she is very advanced. We are moving out of the city in a month so that we can be closer to more like-minded families that are loving God and raising their children in a similar way. We also need more nature in our lives after 5 years in big cities! Thanks for the support and the advice. What I've concluded is that she loves to learn and I don't want to spoil it with too much pressured workbook learning. I want to nurture her curiosity with more baking, time outdoors, travel, museums, quality books and imaginative play. THANK YOU

Thank you thank you!!!! You are so encouraging!! I pushed my 6 year old more than I should have and I know I want to do a more gentle approach with my 2 year old. God bless you and your wisdom. ❤️

Wonderful video, Joy! Thank you for the encouragement. I’m right there with a 4yo and 2yo, and wondering how/when to start “school.” I feel empowered by all that you shared, because we are doing a lot of that already- just learning as we live daily life. God bless you!!

I totally agree with your tips. Being out in nature, reading to them everyday and reading God's word or praying as a family is very important. Here we can only go in nature for a short period before winter comes. I love baking and cooking with my daughter. She is 4 and she is reading. That is something she likes doing. Everyone has their unique strength, gifts and talents.

This is so encouraging! The gentle art of learning is lovely. I have two out of the box learners and going at their pace and ignoring the voices that say otherwise is so freeing!

Joy, do you have any resources or methods you used to teach your kids about the Bible and scripture or was it just simply reading the Bible aloud?
