I’ve tried to imitate, have never reached it... has shown me the path to using fast bends to grab 3 or 4 notes per fret though. Pretty efficient if you can hear what your doing fast enough to get the pitch dead on.... get good enough and the guitar doesn’t need tuning, long as it’s flat...

Hi Buk. I'd like to work my way out of mediocrity (kind word for my actual musical level). I don't wanna be that guy, playing blues over major... I've been working on Guthrie Trapp's fundamentals video. But... I have a hard time integrating these things into my playing. You know, playing in context... Are there any things that helped you when you were just beginning? Some applied "street theory" to give an idiot a little push? Thanks.

noisesoundtonevibe great place to start is to play major riffs three frets down from the key. In the key of A, play in what would seem like F# minor pentatonic.

This is an old vid of mine, but I talk about improvising in the major pentatonic and playing the melodies you hear in your head kzbin.info/www/bejne/lamnaIOiZ7t5r5I
@noisesoundtonevibe4 жыл бұрын
@@VintageWoodWorkshop First of all man, thank you. I fucking love this community of helpful people who just want to see better musicians. I get that trick and why it works: it's the relative minor. Makes sense. That might be the one step I've integrated. But since I wanna stop hacking my way through stuff and get a better understanding of it all, and that playing the same scale somewhere else feels like a (nice) hack to me, I've started (just!) my journey deeper into the bowels of music theory. I've taken the structure of the major scale and applied it up and down the neck, maybe in a few months these positions will start feeling natural under my fingers. I did the same thing with the minor 7th. Found out it's the same "boxes" but in different spots, so the root is not in the same place as with the major scales. I've got to do the same for minor chords, and work on my triads. But I feel like there are things I could do to use what I've learned so far in a musical manner. I tried setting up a 2-chord loop and outlining the chord changes but articulating that stuff is tricky. I'll keep woodshedding that, but maybe obsessing over this one thing in a vacuum isn't the most efficient way to grow... So I'm reaching out and I'm truly thankful for any tid-bit that could help me understand this better. Thanks again, man.
