Good video. My house was within 50’ of a wildfire last week. I’m now a retired firefighter and putting a similar set-up to what you have together myself. What you have looks good. I’m going for 1-1/2” hose and a two stage pump. Yea, they are pricy, but put out nearly 150 psi and 100 gpm at the pump. Add 150’ of 1-1/2 hose and you’ll be at 105 psi at the hose or 90 psi with 200’ This is very close to what the fire engines put out from one line (fire engines pump at 150). With that you can fight a house fire. Be sure to run your motor often just so the gas doesn’t go bad. I really like that you have your set-up trailer mounted. I won’t be able to do that myself. I’ll keep everything together for quick assembly. I’ll probably put everything in the back of my pickup and run a hose through the passenger window and spray out the driver’s window. Remember to stay in the black when fighting any wildfires. Never try to fight a fire head on. KZbin is your friend. Join your local fire department for access to some good training.

I appreciate you making this. I am getting ready to buy property and am looking at different ideas from others to optimize my skid. As a note just for your knowledge, the head is the pumps ability to overcome a combined height and friction loss in your pipe / hose. It does not directly relate to length of the pipe / hose but includes the length, diameter, and elevation change. This also changes based on the pumps curve. So at the lowest setting it may not be able to overcome what it can elevation wise as in the highest setting. Thank you again for the ideas for my future build!

I'm building the same thing for the back of my pickup. Except I'm buying the Honda high pressure pump it's expensive but makes a big difference when it comes to fires.

This is a well planned, economic system but from my perspective as a firefighter, looking at a stream of water is not a good way to judge its ability to extinguish fire. I have done extensive research on fire pumps and found even the Honda high pressure to be marginal for this type of use(about 60 gpm at 60psi). I have found a pump with 60gpm at 100 psi to be an adequate pump. These can be pricey but a worthwhile investment if it is for emergencies involving fire supression.

Thanks for coming by. The 5 large grass fires that I have assisted on since this video was posted must say something about it’s ability to extinguish fires. 🤷♂️

Good rig setup. Go 2" hose though, you're not watering flowers. Need big water.

Good job the recirculating feature is key to not getting the pump hot...

Looks good for a fire rig. What keeps the pump from overpressure when it's idling fast and you haven't opened your hose yet?

You need about double that amount of water , but looks good , We have a old water truck had to do a lot of work to but 1800 gallons water a Honda pump and PTO pump front sprayer and rear with side cannon hope never need it .

@@larryburns4605 so you're telling me that the fire truck that I regularly drive with a 330 gallon tank should be doubled? No.
@larryburns4605Ай бұрын
@MidAmericaPrep you do 330 gallons just been around a brush fire that guy had set up like yours and if a neighbor didn't show up as fast as he did with a 1000 gallon water truck they would of lost 2 homes and a shop .water truck feed his 330 gallon tote that had pump and they saved 2 homes and a shop . Just think yours be great with more water we live in rule area we call each other for help 1st then 911 .good luck like your video.

Is there any way you can list all parts needed for the connections? (Valve, fittings, ect.) I having a hard time trying to figure out what is needed to make it work. I have Honda 2 inch pump and 300 gallon storage tank. Thanks

I'm sorry maybe I missed it but how did you plumb in that recirculation line?
@MidAmericaPrep2 жыл бұрын
I was certain I had a setup video loaded but it doesn’t look like it’s in the lineup. Two ball valves and a T on the outlet line. Shut off your main line and open the T to return it back into the tank.

Also watch 7:50-9:30”. I discuss the recirculation.

please show a video of how it is plumbed in detail thanks

Dont beat yourself up over orange peel texture. I shoot it intentionally on my trailers so it's not so slippery

What is pump specs? Gpm and Pressure?

150gpm with 2” line. My oil filled pressure gauge was unfortunately victim to the -35° temps we had this last winter and I have yet to replace it. Although it still reads 70psi on average, I’m not sure of the accuracy. Especially being choked down 2” to 7/8”.
