I store our toaster in a drawer but in the drawer have a small cookie sheet under it to collect the crumbs. Easy Peasy to pull out the tray dump the crumbs in the garbage (or feed the chickens) wipe it down and put it back. 😁 Good post. ❤

We have had our corelle dishes for about 15 years. They are seriously worth the initial money we spent on them. Sometimes I see pretty dishes but then I ask my self if they would last. They won’t.

Great tip! You are so right about canning jars! I have about 80 vintage (not the new version) blue ball jars. My teas, herbs and some spices are in the pints and the rest of everything else in the quarts and half gallons. When I run out of old ones I choose wide mouth jars. The ones that can longer can be used for canning work great. I use to due a LOT of canning, over 1,500 one year alone! So glad those days are over! 😄

As a retired, widowed empty-nester, I use many of these same kitchen organization tips. Certain wines are sold in those 1L carafes, which is a frugal way to collect them if you imbibe and like that particular wine. I've also collected a lot of canning jars (wide-mouth 1 qt and 1/2 gal wide-mouth for dry goods and 1pt or 1/2 pint jelly jars for spices) for attractive pantry storage. As a frequent mover during my life, I have a collection of magnetic storage helpers to work with whatever fridge surface is available in that particular kitchen layout. I also use a lot of those clear bins for fridge organization and to minimize clean-up/cross-contamination when thawing meat.

The best thing I ever did was to buy Corelleware At the thrift shops ofc! We have several white background patterns. And for bowls, I buy anything white background. I make up porridge ahead of time and portion into bowls that we stash in fridge. Steel cut oats and grits. I prob have 20 bowls and only 2 kids here now lol I used Corelleware mugs for yrs for kids cups, small size and a handle. Can’t beat it! We keep our drink ware for a whole day so we all use diff ones. We just rinse out after a meal as we have milk/kefir for break & lunch. They’re used btwn meals too to get water for the day.

One tip I learned recently is that some products come in jars that have lids that are self sealing. Such as Grand Maman jams or european products. They can be reused in hot water baths just like our canning jar lids. I've tried it and it does work:)

God has blessed me today because he gifted me your channel I can't tell you what a ray of sunshine you are to my life. I am living on an extremely Tight budget There is no money To spend on pretty things And I recycle a lot of the items that I use in my home. I had a particular interest When you address reusing jars. I was wondering if you could let me know if you use the lids as well you didn't mention that. I am a single mom and 1 of my child is stricken with an autoimmune disease So I have to be careful what products Are brought into my home Buying mason jars really isn't in my budget, Although I have considered the dollar tree ones but I don't know if they're safe to use. I look forward to your response And I hope your days are filled with memorable moments

Visit your local subshop or small mom and pop stores that also sells food. They always have 1 gallon jugs. My cousin sells them for $2.00 a piece at her store. ❤ I currently have a fridge that's about your size and I am constantly cussing it out. 😂😂😂 It's just too small and I also prefer the freezer on the bottom and fridge on top. I miss my old fridge in our last home. I don't need a fancy one with water and ice maker, but i do need a much bigger one with the freezer on the bottom. Getting down on my knees to get my 1 gallon jugs of milk is difficult and makes me ornery. 😂😂😂😂

Love your videos! Thank you for the tips/ideas! May I make a suggestion for your videos? Sometimes it’s hard to see everything in the picture clearly… I think the whites are too white, and the blacks are too black. The white is the one that makes it the hardest to see. The sunlight from the windows make the windows white out, as well as your fridge is a similar effect. I’m not sure if I’m the only one seeing this, or maybe it’s just my device that I’m noticing this on? I thought I would mention it incase it isn’t just me. And I hope that all makes sense! I look forward to your next videos! Have a blessed week ❤

@@mountainmamashome I’m mostly watching on a Samsung tv, but it’s also on my iPhone that I notice it. And to clarify, I like your esthetic, and the way your videos look and the tone of inside your house. I don’t know anything about video editing programs, but not sure if you can isolate just certain brightness tones? Anyways, definitely don’t take just one person’s (mine) opinion as fact - ask others! 😊

Do you ever have concerns about the lead or other heavy metals in the glaze in pottery that you consume liquids from?
@minnamae25
@minnamae25 11 күн бұрын
This is why i buy all corelle ware. Plain white. Lead free mamma on fb made me aware of all the led that is still on these dishes. Usually if they have paint or any kind of color, ir still has led. Not sure if she is still in FB because i gave up SM 5 yrs ago. And corelle is locally made
@mountainmamashome
@mountainmamashome 11 күн бұрын
Hello Friend! I did, so I researched it. Most companies and potters have taken measures to use products that don't have lead these days. But I did learn that if you are not sure, pay attention to the glaze. If the glaze becomes dull it is wearing thin and the piece shouldn't be used for food any longer. As long as the shiny glaze is shiny and there are no chips it is supposed to be okay. Red and Blue are the ones you have to be most cautious about too.

Shayla, I will WARN you about corelle. My sil sliced her hand on a shattered corelle plate. The corelle is a different substance than most glass dishes, and she ended up having to have surgery on her hand because it imbedded itself into her hand. That is the only reason that I will never use it!
