How to Build a WALL TENT Platform. Last year we setup our wall tent in the freezing cold snow of Wisconsin. That video has over 200,000 views! • THE BEST TENT IN THE W... .
While the wall tent stayed nice and toasty with the wood stove, the frozen ground was not very fun to walk and live on. So we decided to build a platform for our wall tent, up high, off of the ground and hidden deep in the woods. We cannot believe how this turned out.. Enjoy the show as we build a permanent and hidden platform for our wall tent.
As part of this project we used Toja Grid for the timber frame joinery- learn more here- tojagrid.com/. Our wall tent (which we love) is from www.walltentshop.com/.
HomesteadHow is about a family of six who left the city to live and grow on 20 acres. We are rookies sharing our journey with you. To all the preppers, homesteaders, or survivalists who wants to live a more simple live, come learn with us!
Videos will include fun projects related to woodworking, logging, gardening, livestock and more...We are not experts but learning hands-on and sharing our experiences with you.

First time viewer here. I have to say, impressive. Somewhere around the first showing of "ladder-laughter", I recognized your plans. I see the tiny details. They appear throughout the video. Wasn't it great to have the young people there, helping with placing the "tent-pole Bases". The beautiful layout inside was the "bomb". It just screamed, "This guy really knows his craft". I couldn't believe my little ole eyes, when she did her, "Vanna White" arm-sweep" in the middle of the "Conversation Space". Your opting for a centrally, located "seating" area, opens up the entire rest of the space, between it and the front-door. That works do well as the "Family-Area". Everyone hang out there. Finally, the straight-up aerial-view, said it all. You Sir, are no amateur! 👀

Ah yes, so much property you havent explored it all. Lifestyles of the rich and famous, enjoy!
@Homesteadhow
@Homesteadhow 3 жыл бұрын
Rich and famous? Not quite. We frugally saved our money pinching pennies for 20 years and then bought a 20 acre disheveled property which was for sale for 3 years and a complete junk pile nobody wanted. Then we fixed it up to make it livable and have been improving it for five years. Anyone could do the same. We are not rich we are 100% self made, started at minimum wage and no college, anyone could do what we did, I'm pretty dumb- but most people over extend and think they deserve an expensive car, buy a house with granite counters at the peak of their price range they buy the newest iphone and Starbucks everyday, they max out credit cards. We did the opposite of all that. Bought used cars, never, NEVER used credit cards, bought used, saved the difference and our first house was way under our price range and we fixed it up to make money when we sold it. Not rich and famous, I prefer frugal and free.

Gee, it looks pretty but after a day of climbing mountains deer hunting, the last thing I would want is to have to climb a set of steps. And loading and unloading the tent is going to be difficult if not dangerous. Those steps will be dangerous in ice and snow. And carrying pails of water every day up those steps will get old very fast, not to mention firewood but if you like it, it's your tent. I just feel that you are thinking like a teenage and only a half step ahead in your planning. Wind blowing under your platform is going to make the floor of your tent very cold. On the plus side, if you skirt the platform with plywood or homesote insulation, it might make useful storage. I'm coming in late to this video so I look forward to see how it turned out.

If you edit to republish, focus on the deck. Not interested in what your dog does or your riding toys. Well, should a fire break out 1 ft away or 10 miles away, you may have started it. Did you know a fire can burn underground? You did not make a fire pit properly, maybe you should research how to make a fire pit.
