Congrats on making the transition to full time. It's my happy place, for sure. My husband is a retired Air Force Msgt, disabled, 25 years service. Thank you for your service. We have been homesteading for 22 years. I did monetize for awhile, however, it brought me more scrutiny from the KZbin Overlords so I told them to shove it and quit. You have a lot of roosters in there, see some blue laced red Wyandottes, always beautiful. I've raised rare breed and heritage line chickens for 20 of our 22 years here, the joy of my life. When the GA Dept of Ag gets into your barnyard, they ruin everything, IMO. Self sufficiency is the enemy of government, always will be. I used to sell eggs out of my car when we had about 50 layers, used to ship hatching eggs around the country, but we are slowly downsizing, about half that now, too difficult to manage for my husband, who is 71 now. I am in great health because of our lifestyle, eating almost exclusively animal protein and fats, but I ain't no spring chicken, either. Best of luck to you~Cynthia, North Georgia Mountains

I counted over 20+ poultry businesses in GA. I'll bet that's the reason the state clamped down on profitable homesteading. The businesses don't want the competition Too bad. You'll have to think of another way. I grew up in a rural area & the community enjoyed roadside vegetable stands, buying fresh fish someone caught, eating raised chickens, pigs, etc.
@Mr44magnum0706Ай бұрын
Bought 10 acres and plan on a small homesteading operation here in MI. I watch farming and homestead videos around the world. Another poultry farmer in GA was talking about the same issues. He believe big Ag bought GA politicians. I would still look into a few government programs you might take advantage of like tax cuts etc. Anyway good luck.
