Back to the DIY Travel Trailer project with another build! Today I'm building a Porta Potty / general storage cabinet for the trailer. This would be a great project for a van conversion, trailer build or for a renovation project! In the video I go over the basic framing with pocket holes, aluminum trim, counter tops, painting, hinges, hardware installation, and all the mistakes I made too! I hope it may give you some ideas or inspiration for your own project :)
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Joe

Joe ... I am a newer subscriber who just finished binge watching all the videos of this build ... and a few more. Your camper is one SWEET build!!! I love the fact that you over engineered everything!!! You, sir, are one whale of a fabricator, builder and wood craftsman!!! I am in awe of your talents. In addition, you are one outstanding family man!!! I loved it when you referenced the most beautiful sound in this world was your daughter saying “Daddy“. That’s all I needed to know!!! You should be most proud of your trailer!!! I wish you and your family happy trails, better camping and all things great and good!!! Take care, be safe, all my best and God bless!!! Aw man! Thanks Charles! My girls are my life! This has certainly been an awesome project for sure and I’m really glad you have liked it! Just saw your other comment and I have been telling people that I have two more builds on this project. And awning and an outdoor shower and I guess I forgot but yes, I do still plan on making an outdoor slide out kitchen or eating space. Haha ....almost left it out so thank you! Oh yes, and I’ll probably do a video or two answering questions about this trailer (from dimensions and details that I didn’t cover to various things I wish I would’ve done differently ). So stay tuned!!! 😀👍🙏 Joe PS - Sorry for the slow reply. Still in the mountains camping but just came into cell service for a bit to check messages😀👍

Greatly appreciate your content now if we can get you to build more projects 👏🏽 maybe you need a new fence, new building or update in your home?! Either way I love you work, the quality and love you put into everything that you do! You’re a wholesome guy with a beautiful family and I always look forward to your builds. But there will be at least a couple more, and I will also do another video after those where I will answer questions related to this build. And you can also be sure that I’ll be doing many more projects around the home too where I’ll video the projects. Found your channel while looking at trailer builds. Not sure which video caught my attention, but I did go back to the beginning and watched all of them over a couple of days. Your attention to detail is remarkable, there is a lot to learn from this series of videos. I’m sure there are others that wonder just how much time, money and effort you put into a home made trailer that looks as good if not better than some manufacturers models, and the best part is it fits your needs and wants. Watched the vacation trip also, the trailer stood out in most of the shots. Good to see you and the family having fun, enjoying the outdoors with the extended family. Quite sure you have picked up another subscriber, if any other videos of yours are as good as the build up, I should be around for a long time. Thank you for sharing your talents, family and time with us the subscribers...!

Actually I have never used it once. It’s mostly for my daughter or if we are on the road or at a Developed campground that require ‘facilities in the trailers’. I prefer a long walk in the forest with a shovel. Ironically I thought of this design when on our last camping trip and while I ‘took a walk’ 😂 Not sure if I will get as much footage this year as last but I’ll definitely do something 😀👍

13:25 I installed a towel bar by eyeballing where I needed to screw in the brackets. A couple of extra sets of holes later I finally managed to get them with the right spacing between them. Marking where you are supposed to drill by tapping the handle as you did is such a simple solution to the problem I had. Next time I install a towel bar I'll completely assemble it along with the screws inserted in the brackets, find where I want the towel bar to be, and push the towel bar against the drywall hard enough for the screws to create some marks on it. I could rest a level on the towel bar to get a level installation.

What a genius way to make a lightweight countertop, so smart. Why did I not think of that. No heavy butcher block slab, which is so much unnecessary weight. This is is very nice. I'm going to borrow that idea. Especially around a stainless steel sink, reinforce the wood and done. The aluminum edging looks sharp! Please know that the music that fills intervals of talking, is really annoying and hard on the ears. It stresses me out, and undoubtedly many others. I enjoy the natural sounds of building and find that soothing. There is enough audio between the building sounds and human voice to fill the video. Additional music is an audio overload when you are viewing multiple videos in a row or a longer one. You may not see that perspective from the maker point of view. Letting you know. I subscribe only to quiet videos with no music.

I'm by far no expert to potty chairs, but it looks good to me. You sure are fancy w/that medal trim. But I like it a lot. I even like the T. paper roll on the pull out track. I probably would keep it if it was me, but I'm not the one who's living in it & testing that feature out, you are & you need to make that decision. Right? Well the whole built was great to watch & you've got a lot of time in building it. If you was in business making & selling these trailer. What would you say it is worth? Give me a truthful answer. Not one where your attached to it. A truthful answer as if you was in business to sell them. No I don't want to buy it or get you to build me one. I just want a truthful answer. That's all! Thanks for sharing that awesome video with us. Have fun camping in it & be safe, Chris from Missouri

Oh man that’s a tough question. Because I’ve spent so much personal time on it. My efforts and stresses and labor of love in this would make it a huge price tag. Haha. But I’d guess if a trailer company built a similar copy of this they’d sell it around$20k maybe? For me to sell this exact one....$50,000....haha😂

That is "The" question. When full, these potties are heavy. Mine holds about 4-6 gallons including urine. Those handles need to be accessible.
