I appreciate the transparency on all three of your channels when things DON'T go as planned, especially with livestock. Al losing George & Jason his sheep were real struggles that show the real challenges behind homesteading. And then Jason followed up with his sheep consult -- so enlightening and valuable! Thank you for continuing to be real and for educating us.

Putting up that much guttering Jason, I am so glad you hired someone to do it for you. I hope you all have a Blessed week.

LOVED Ben's plumbing story... Laughed till I cried ... or maybe it was the other way around!! The Manufactured home we lived in for nearly 30 years has literally had EVERY plumbing elbow FAIL!! in the walls, under the house, you name it. I never cared about plumbing much, and my husband went from NEVER being a handyman to becoming an EXPERT plumber! His favorite connection became the SNAKEBITE ... very few leaks after one of those is used to replace all the faulty connections... I also really felt for him with the deer story, We had a huge herd of deer roving through are place from Spring to Fall devouring every vegetable, berry, fruit tree, blade of decorative grass! I vowed to get a few of those buggers myself, but the whole herd seems to have disappeared into the field next door... after many shots fired, haven't seen them lately! Good Ridens!!

Metal roofs require a 6" gutter because the rain water is quick moving compared to shingles. It will overshoot a smaller gutter and hit the ground running. Good call on the larger gutters, Jason.

I have been raising a small flock (less than 10) sheep for a few years now and one thing that I have learned is that the unexpected ALWAYS happens. In some instances, you can be prepared for it, but in many, you just have to learn to go with the flow, including when there are deaths in the flock. I really respect you Jason for consulting with a sheep expert even after you had such a bad initial experience with them. I have lost newborn sheep, juvenile sheep, and adult sheep. Death in the flock is an aspect of raising sheep and it will happen when you least expect it. You realize that "getting it right" means that you do your best to make sure that all of your animals are treated with love and respect. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, including sheep.

I heard that if an animal got hit by lightning, no animal would eat the flesh. Don't know for sure but Walker Farm Family had an Alpaca got hit by lightning and that's where I heard that from because they drug it back to a place where they put any dead animal so the predators could eat them and leave all the rest of the farm along but no predator ever touched it. That's so strange but at least it might be an answer to your moose delima too.

I live close enough and one day plan on visiting the new resort. Can't beat you guys for keeping it real though. I would love to know what tests and the results from the Moose. You did great getting it out of the pond. Jason you would miss the Kune kunes too much if you got rid of them. Ben, dripping water is the background music for nightmares in my book. Take care, have a good week.

Sage and Stone Homestead has been trying to figure out the same issue. She placed her new full butcher video behind the members section (patroon? Sorry. I am not YT savvy) and that is evidently fine. It seems silly to have to jump through the hoops, but what choice do you have when YT helps fund your farm?

🇦🇺Here in Queensland, Saturday 9th, 11am 31C. Not good. The last few days 32C, next week each day 30C-32C. Walker Farm Farm had a alpacas die, they were told if it died from a lightning strike, no animals or birds will eat it.

It would be interesting to raise a feeder pig along with one of your Kuni and use the fat from the kuni with the feeder to see if it helps flavor the feeder. Might be a great way to compromise and get more weight and better flavor. Not sure if that would work though or just cut a kuni and feeder for grind and mix the meat.

I watched Al drag the moose out of his pond. I realize it's edited but he did a smooth job of getting it out of the pond. Al wonder how the young pigs in your chicken are doing. Jason sorry about your plumbing problem. Have been without a working sink in my kitchen for three weeks but at least it fixed.
@kermitfrog83404 күн бұрын
The show must go on. Many of the cooking videos you see them clean out a chicken and divide it up prior to cooking it. So maybe you should try showing the butchering and then the cooking of whatever you are butchering. Or like Al said do a skit. It's hard to lose animals but it happens Al lost a new head of cattle and a loved cat Jason get sheep only if you want some, now that you know more about them you will do better. But if you want to continue selling meat raise both a bigger pig and carry on with what you have just ask a premium price.
@sharigraves35594 күн бұрын
Maybe it got hit by lightening. If so other animals will not touch it. Watch Walker Family farm. Recently they had an alpaca just die and they talk in detail about lightening.
@pennywillis88954 күн бұрын
🇦🇺With photos you can run it through a filter to make it look like a drawing. Can you use a program or filter to do the same with videos, making it look more like a comic strip? You could use the filter for any parts of the video that KZbin doesn’t like. It’s cinematic or artistry.

Weve srt up lights utilizing halogen workshop light frames, inexpensive automotive LED back up lights (4 LED bulbs in a row prefered), alligator clips or similar, automotive speaker wire (we got more than a roll at 90% clearance years ago), an an automotive battery. Over the years weve conbected to the vehicles' batteries, an independent deep cell marine battery, and the like. Depending upon the back up light reflectors, the space being lit up, etc... these are baseball stadium bright.
