Chelsea, mushrooms hold alot of air, almost like a sponge. So the pre-cooking then releases that air and then they won't shrink as much and leave you with crazy headspace. I love your pantry tour videos.

You two have a beautiful relationship ❤️ and are respectful of each other. I love your channel, Chelsea! It touched my heart when you set some dough aside for your daughter to create with. And the fact that you still help your older children. You're definitely a ten on the mom scale.

I am nearly 50 and when I was a child my mother would buy the Laura Scudder’s peanut butter. To help with the mixing she would store the jar upside down so that the oil would go to the bottom of the jar and that way, when she opened it and started mixing, the oil would not spill over the rim.

I really enjoyed your tour of your pantries, but I was exhausted from seeing what all you had canned. Holy cow! I'm 84 and I've canned off and on all my 64 1/2 years of marriage. Now, I'm wheelchair bound and I am debating selling all my canning stuff. I hate to because I'm afraid that the way the world is going, I will need it. I can still do it, but I have to have help lifting, getting stuff in and out of he canner or water bath, etc. I have never seen such an extensive pantry as yours. You are so lucky to have that much space to put things in. And despite a few things not being labeled, it was beautifully organized. I enjoyed this very much.

I absolutely love your pantry. It looks beautiful and functional and it's so great seeing people go back to growing/canning/preserving their own food. There's a couple that likes to hike in the summer (Renee and Tim thruhikers) and they have some videos on preparing food for a trip, which you might find interesting. They select recipes that work well, use a dehydrator for the ingredients and then combine them in pouches that just need some water for a hearty meal. There's also a channel I found recently called Acre Homestead, where they do a lot of canning as well and the lady running it - Becky, has recently purchased a grain grinder and started incorporating freshly ground wheat to her baking. She does it in increments, because recipes differ based on the flour used and she is mixing ratios of fresh ground/ multipurpose flour, slowly increasing overtime, until she works up to 100% fresh ground. So far, her recipes seem to be holding up well, but she will be reporting changes if some of the recipes need reworking.

I want to start working on my food storage area this coming year! I’m a newly wed with just my hubby and myself. Moved to Kentucky last year into my husband’s house. We have an underground storm shelter that I think will make a great food storage area! We have cleared the backyard of trees, fenced it in and will start a garden, which I love. I have gotten many ideas from watching your videos. My pantry will never be as big as yours but hopefully will look as nice as yours!

Hi! Here's a hack: use a hand held mixer, or an immersion blender for peanut butter. If you gently and slowly push your immersion blender, or ONE beater on a handheld mixer, down into the jar you can emulsify your peanut butter so easily! I learned this hack somewhere on YT and it is a great hack! Try it and tell us if you like this method for stirring peanut butter. Your pantry should be featured in a magazine! It is TOTALLY Pinterst worthy!!

Don't feel too bad about the labeling, guys. 😀 One time when my youngest sister was very little, she snuck into the pantry and peeled all the labels off the commercially canned goods. You never knew if you were going to get dog food or tuna, peaches or pickled beets. For a few months we'd do pantry suprise dinners once a week. It made for a lot of laughs and some funny suprise combos.

How do you ensure you always use the oldest stuff first? I've been toying with ideas like storing things on a free-standing shelf with access from both sides, new stuff goes in on one side and old stuff gets taken out and consumed on the other. I don't think I'll ever have reserves this big but I still want some in case of disruptions in food deliveries. Also, food in just paper bags on the floor... pests are a thing, that doesn't seem like the best approach.

Really gorgeous. So much work that you and hubby have put in. We ❤ our canned chuck roast, lamb roast, corned beef brisket, fround beef, etc. Did meatballs today, 7 qts, 4 pts. Great for meatball subs, pizza, & pasta of course. Also add brown gravy for meatloaf bites.😊

Your pantry is such an inspiration! Thank you so much for this. We are now planning our own food storage room and have learned so much from you. I wish you all the best this winter... it looks like you will all be very well fed :) Take care, Jennifer (fellow Canadian in Northern Ontario)

Everything looks amazing!. I had guessed 1500 jars and I can't believe you went over that amount. That is so impressive. I started using a grain mill this week and I really love it, so go ahead and try it and you'll see how much you love it. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway. Hugs from Florida.
