Well I’ve been trying a lot of ideas Tessie has given us..... I don’t canned my fruits and vegetables but I cleaned my pantry, wiped down every store bought can and had them lined up face in front.... I hung my baskets along an overhang in the basement, I dusted, mopped, wiped down all my curiosities/ Knick-knacks I have displayed.....I went to a goodwill store on a half off day, and got some fantastic buys...... I know I could never keep up with our Tessie.... but I’m gonna try.... ps... I actually enjoy trying to copy u! Thank u so much, it’s actually raised up spirits!

I used to make apple dumplings for my kids when they were small. I used whole apples, cored, a little butter in each hole, sprinkled with cinnamon, then wrapped in the dough. I made a brown sugar syrup that baked with them and then ladled over top of them before serving. Yum, memories! 😊❤️

Cooking our parents ,and grandparents recipes always bring back fond memories of times and people that were once part of our lives. Sharing memories with our kids and grandkids insure that these recipes and memories live on in their lives. I remember making apple dumplings with my Grammy and I remember how wonderful they smelled when they came out of the oven. I grew up eating Pa Dutch food but also Polish food because my moms grandparents emigrated from Poland in the 20’s. In our home we ate more Americanized dishes such as pizza, spaghetti and hot dogs. One of my favorite Pa Dutch foods was and is pickled eggs and red beets. We make them often. Do you like them too! You seem very comfortable in the kitchen. I’m on the fence about cooking and baking. It is not my favorite thing to do but I try new dishes often and they usually come out ok. My love for potato definitely comes from the Pa Dutch side of the family but I do love the Polish dishes I grew up with. Thank you for sharing this tutorial on making the dough. My dear Tessie, I loved this video! That rolling pin is fantastic. I noticed it before you told us about it's history. I could feel the happy memories. My mother used to bake home made apple pies from scratch. I can't even look at store bought pies and think of them as real pies. I have a little homemade pie dough in my freezer. I'm going to pull it out and make you dumplings and I'll think about you as I make them. Unfortunately my mother is also dealing with dementia. She is at an earlier stage but so much of her is lost and scrambled already. It's so sad.

My mom was from Pennsylvania Dutch. My grandfather understand the language but didn't speak it. Mom made apple dumplings much like you did...delicious. She was a wonderful cook, no measuring for everyday foods. Only for new recipes.

I’m Pa. Dutch and I make these every fall. I make mine with the whole apple cut in half and use brown sugar,cinnamon and a pat of butter put the apple half together and then wrap in dough and bake. I also eat with in a bowl. We also eat it as a meal.

In the south as they say pork fat rules! 😄,we had a lady in our community that was famous for her apple dumplings, and especially her raw apple cake. We would eat that with homemade vanilla ice cream. 😋 I am not much on apples but I love homemade crusts, I am a crust person rather than a filling person. 😋🌹💞

Oh my, I have never made Apple Dumplings & I love them in a bowl with vanilla ice cream. Oh, that looks like HEAVEN IN A BOWL !!! Of course, if I had your beautiful voice ~ they would taste even better ! I love that beautiful old rolling pin that was your Great Grandma's ! I have my Grandma's rolling pin, too. My Mama used to make little fried pies in her cast iron skillet with homemade Apple Butter as a filling. Yummy !
