Tessie I guess I look back at my younger years. They was so productive. I kept a garden journal..When our 2 girls was little that is when our gardens where the largest & I canned all of it. I had 125 tomato plants & 130 hot & mild peppers. I had 65-75 cabbage plants. I had 5 rows of green beans. I had a row of butter beans & 3 rows of pintos. A long row of carrots Mixed Greens. Yes our GARDEN WAS HUGE 3/4 of a ACER. We lived on our first farm. I had over 2 thousand canning jars. I was 18 when we married & 23 & 25 when we was Blessed with our family.. LIFE WAS SO GOOD. Now life is different. I have RA & several other health issues. Now my Girls & Granddaughter can. Not as much as I did. We will be married 40tt years & love in another Farmhouse. Julie Wallace I read your comment and was drawn to it immediately. I also have RA and I was in denial for two years until finally my medical doctor insisted on me seeing a Rheumatologist because the inflammation in my body was through the roof. I landed in the hospital one month before seeing my Rheumatologist and discovered that I had Congestive Heart Failure. I never had trouble with my heart before. My cardiologist asked me to do some research on RA and read about all the organ problems that this horrible autoimmune disease causes. It affects the heart, the lungs, your intestines and the list goes on and on. Well he was right I now have COPD, along with the Congestive heart failure, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure and trouble with my stomach. Over one year of being diagnosed with RA I still can’t come to grips with it. I have always been self sufficient but now I have slowed down quite a bit. The only thing that keeps me going is my faith. I am a huge believer in prayer. I will pray for you Julie and I pray that someone comes up with a cure for this. I probably won’t see it in my lifetime but I hope for the future generation that hope will be on the way for them. Stay safe sweetheart!

Oh boy was it hot here, Tessie. Got into the 90s. I agree, Tessie. My happiest years are now too. I love being a mom too but it was hard raising my children. My husband worked long hours so I was home alone alot. I'm thankful I could be home with them though. I wouldn't trade it for anything.😊

When I was 21 I had a spin washer and apt sized dryer(they had been my Grandmother's) and I can tell you, I loved that thing! You could wash the load as long as you wanted or as quick as you wanted...spin the heck out of it and the clothes dried so much faster. I saved and saved and bought a full sized washer and dryer set and was very proud of myself, but although it was more convenient I still missed the little one sometimes. Now I miss it again- just for the energy savings alone! Bigger is not always better, that's for sure!

Hi, Tessie! Thanks for the video. I love watching you work around your homestead. When I was growing up I had lots of great women examples. My mom was a stay-at-home mom until I was 9. One of my grandmothers never worked outside the home and the other was a career woman all her life. I was close to all of them and loved what each of them taught me. I have never owned a tumble dryer, even when my boys were little. I have underfloor heating in my bathroom, and the clothes dry over night. You might say that underfloor heating is expensive, but most Norwegian homes are heated my electricity, and power is relatively cheap. We dont have gaslines into the houses. I heat the rest of my house with a wood burning stove. I want to build a clothes drying rack in my garden. Love the fresh smell of clean clothes. Oh, familiar sound when you hit a rock in the ground.. I have built raised flower beds from stones dug up from the ground. 😅 I am working full time, and love the homesteading life as well. Wish I had more time, but these days, really thankful for a secure job. 💕

We, lived on, a farm when we was younger, I can't ever rember not having a garden every year dad had beautiful gardens.Lots of tomatoes mom caned. I miss the good old days .Mom and dad are still alive and can't take care of much, but they still have a small garden .They live in town know.Mom's, flowers are still beautiful.A lot of work went into those gardens .We always appeicated mom and dad hard work.well god bless have a fantastic day.

Tessie, when I was in my 20s, I was doing what you are doing now.I have always wanted to go back to that lifestyle. There was a career in high tech inbetween. It gave me a decent living, but not my passion. You are blessed to have children and grandchildren. Teach them what you are able to pass on. They will treasure the wisdom that comes with living your old fashioned lifestyle. I find it relaxing and satisfying. It moves with the seasons and gives back in so many wonderful ways....

I took a break from watching for awhile, since my new grandbaby was born the end of March. I'm glad to be back! I will go back to watch the baby and 3 siblings again soon! In the meantime. I will view as many as I can, and still get my work done.

today I scored 6 blueberry bushes and 4 red grape plants at the aldi, a happy day. the weather was nice and we had been outside all day. little by little the garden turned into an edible paradise. hou van jou .
