Although do keep a close eye on these type of candles with the napkins because I did that one year. The paper round the candle caught fire. Thankfully it was in the kitchen on granite. Yes, it was a pillar thick candle with 1 wick.
@BROUBoomer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michele, I'm curious, did you burn the candle to the edge? Or did it have a thick wall? Did you have a thick slab of granite to put under your candles, or was it just your granite countertop? I'm scared of starting a fire from a candle and tend to take extra precautions. So very curious. Was it the same thing she just showed, a thin napkin? Or the sheet music one? Thank you in advance for your information, and help. Take care, stay safe, have a nice day. 👵🙂✌️☮️🖖 😷 🙉🙈🙊

@@BROUBoomer Hi, glad to explain. I did the exact procedure with the decorated 1 ply napkin on a 3" diameter/6" tall white pillar candle. It was a lot of fun to make! I made a few for decor, but only lite one. I had the candle on a candle plate sitting on our granite island near the stove top by Christmas decor. I left the candle burning while doing things around the house and cleaning so I was going back and forth. What happened is that the wax wall/sides caved in towards the middle of the candle just enough to catch the flame and the waxed paper was on fire. Scared me bc it was near Christmas decor. So lesson learned. I still have the candle as a reminder. Lesson, once the walls/sides are forming as the wax melts, use a knife to cut them down to avoid the sides to curl in. It's cool to see light flickering through the waxed napkin, but that's when it gets dangerous. It's wax and paper which is flammable. So be safe and cut the sides down and don't burn too long. You can also put the candle in straight tall glass vase (hurricane stylr) as extra protection or pretty clear jars. This will help contain, just in case. I'd like to try this on battery operated waxed candles too. But, be sure it's a pattern you like bc they last much longer. I still light the candles, BUT I am extra cautious and trim the edges Hope this helps and happy crafting!

@@michele1442 Hi! Thank you so much for the information. Greatly appreciated. I was thinking about decoupaging a battery operated candle with some Mod Podge. That might be safer for me, I'm a bit of a klutz. Hurricane season would roll around and if I needed a candle I might forget to take enough precautions for the decorated ones. Thanks again! Take care, stay safe, have a nice day. 👵🙂✌️☮️🖖 😷 🙉🙈🙊 🕯️

I'm SO glad I kept reading comments, cuz all I could think was that the paper would burn! I bet the battery candles are waxy enuf to do this application, but safely. Never leave a burning candle unattended!! I'm glad u were right there when it happened!!! ✌💙

Hello 👋🏻 Julie! TYFS - I love this idea! 🙄 I do have a couple of questions 🤓. 1. About how long do you “warm up” your candle for & at what temperature on your hair dryer? 2. Have you ever used a “heat gun” to do this? 3. Have you ever used some wax paper to wrap around the candle & napkin before heating to seal it? I saw someone use the wax paper method on a battery operated candle with a napkin & photo so, I’m wondering if you had ever tried it & if so, could you tell me why you prefer the method you shared today? 4. Do you need to be concerned about the napkin catching on fire 😳 if you actually use the candle? I’m trying to figure out if they’re now just a decorative piece? 5. If these beautiful candles are now “just decor”, do you need to seal them with anything to keep them looking beautiful or is the “wax layer” that they have now good all by itself? Again, THANK YOU 🙏🏻 so much for sharing such an affordable, beautiful, & certainly “gift-able” idea! I also thank you in advance for any answers that you can give me. I’ve just searched for your KZbin channel, DandelionsandPoppies, you have a new subscriber 😁!
