As a Jamaican I can proudly say that of our seven National Heroes, the fiercest and most revered is Nanny of the Maroons, who was an Ashanti warrior princess from the Ghana region, of West Africa who came to the Caribbean Island with her brothers as slaves. Nanny fought the British, In combat, and beat them, so that they were forced to sign peace treaties, and give land grants to the Maroon people of Jamaica. She also contributed to the abolition of slavery for the Jamaican people.

Interesting how this vital information is not taught in schools. It boggles my mind that the first thing that we are taught, in regards to our history is that we were slaves. Thank You for highlighting our female ancestors! You have a new subscriber!

4ABLACKAFRICA - Actually you should worry about what the White man's system teaches. It is the reason slavery lasted so long in America. It's the reason it took another 100 years for equality even to own a home where a Black person wants. Its the reason why Black men are gun down with impurity and Black folks and Black politicians are out protesting for Mexican's babies and not their own sons. Either worry about it now or continue to pay for it later.

If you don't understand white supremacy/racism as a system and how it works, everything you think you know will only confuse you. They have an agenda as their masters see for them. What we must all keep in mind are all the thots, video vixens, and tricks that personify the music in real life, while destroying the lives of men, children, and families in our community. This includes the Confused masses of our people (men and women alike) addicted to love n hip hop, fast food, church, and consumption. We gotta clean house so we can build. BTW Their mothers are no better than the trash they sing about. They sing of what they know and have seen growing up. History is a bitch, so our people don't like to look it up.

Wow. I subscribed big time just now. This video was great. I studied African History in college. I knew of the African Warrior Queens. But, nothing like this!!!! Well informed and indisputable. One of the things that is relevant to modern Black people is that the warrior spirit lives in many Black women of today. They have the battle rage but don't know why. They think that something is wrong with them. They cry silently because they are smothered. The don't fit. I come from a long line of warrior women. The women of my family prided themselves on their battle prowess and physical strength. These women beat full grown men in hand to hand combat -often. These women were not gay -by any means. They were just strong warrior personalities. Unfortunately, many young Black women of today feel the warrior spirit within their souls and think that something is wrong with them. They have been told that they should be support only in our battles and not on the field itself. Yet their place is actually on the battle field. They are silently screaming as they try to fit in with a society that is alien to that spirit. They do not know of these female Battle Queens and Soldiers. I wish they did so that they would recognize themselves and put that warrior spirit to productive use. No more street fights and screaming, cursing, rage. The new battle field is knowledge and building. These women should take their rightful place as leaders in this new battle. That what I am doing with my battle rage. .......

Gwen B my Best friend always call me a Warrior Queen and bc of other studies and research, I've never gotten the chance to go deeper yet. I find myself always fighting for righteousness and unrighteousness fighting against me constantly! I've wept and I've raged in ways that i don't even understand! I shall seek understanding as i am yet fighting another battle as we speak! Have u ever done any research on MAAT??

Ymane M Ali i feel the only reason blacks in america insult the African culture or african history is from a lack of knowledge although I've never really heard any blacks do that! Blacks in America and even the Modern day african has been stripped of the tru culture/ beliefs/traditions. There's hella knowledge to be gained from both sides tho. Some people don't want to know their tru history as well as their tru identity but the knowledge is definitely out there.

Thanks so much for this Powerful Share. I am African-American, here in the USA and it is so enriching to hear of our ancestors. Many times I think of us surviving offspring of slavery and think of the strength we have and even wonder in myself where does the boldness to press forward through struggle come from. Yes, I am a believer in Christ, but I believe my ancestors's DNA is in me as well.

Never heard I'm from Haiti, they mention her. It's mostly Catherine flon et other unknown haitians women specially priestess who were leading.the pre- revolution and revolution. The most ladies they talk the most are the Indian tainos/ Arawaks Anacaona who super popular on both Haiti and Dominican republic before the slipt of hispagniola in 2 different state. But the male are the one they make us study the most. Boukman, toussaint, dessalines. They did make it look that women were more like the passive way that made revolution came because they work inside the Colin's house they will gather infos and go to the slaves party and give info.like sort of spy control action territory things. Until the bois- caiman we're a lady mambo help contact the spirits so called loas who they claimed actually are the one who freed Haiti. But story don't mansion too much women to be honest. 😑

Hey man it's good to have you back. I share alot of the same subscribers as you. It's nice to have someone else like you on KZbin who can help teach and discuss African history without the Afrocentric BS claiming we were the original Native Americans etc. I'm not sure if you remember me but we briefly discussed a collaboration. I really hope that we can do a collaboration some day. Shoot me an email if you're still interested.

I am saddened by the fact that I have almost never heard of African queens other than those of my country, Ethiopia. I really want to know more about other amazing, brave and beautiful African Queens as I am sure there were so many of them. Thank you so much man!!!
