Francois van Zyl if you knew anything about the song you’d know it’s not a criticism of God, it’s a criticism of the church and how hateful they are to homosexuals- namely the Catholic Church. There is a difference between god and the church. It is not blasphemy to point out that although the Bible preaches love, tolerance, love thy neighbor, and humility, there are “Christians” out there that have deep hatred and malice in their hearts and do NOT love thy neighbors as Jesus calls us to do. You can disagree with someone’s lifestyle and find it unholy, but that does not give you the right to treat them like less than human. If anything, you MUST treat them with kindness and compassion so that they are open to listen. Many seem to forget Jesus’ circle was made of up murderers, tax collectors, adulterers, prostitutes, etc. many ‘religious’ people don’t follow Jesus’ example like we are supposed to. THAT is what this song speaks of. The artist made that clear after he wrote it. Many people are being turned away from religion because of the way they are ostracized or treated in the church. And that to me as a Christian is a massive tragedy
