Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound despite being side-tracked with repairs. 👍😏 The bad roads you travelled on sound a lot like some portions of the Trans-Canada Hwy (Hwy 1) in Saskatchewan. At times we felt like we were on a bucking horse as we travelled eastbound. Some loose screws inside the trailer, carefully packed dishes flipped over in cabinets, a broken shelf in the fridge etc ... I hope your next journey takes you along gentle roads. 😃

Hi, just recently discovered your channel and am enjoying your videos. We live just south of Cleveland Ohio and are very interested in some of the Canadian parks you review as they are not that far of a drive for us. The bugs that you saw a Maumee at called May flies, aka Canadian soldiers. They are harmless and a good sign as it means that Lake Erie is healthy, they only live for a day or two before they die. They are kinda gross though! We dont live close enough to the lake to have to deal with them much but some of the towns closer to the lake have been know to have to shovel them the get so thick. Happy camping!!!
@CampingwiththeColes Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching from Ohio. Those May flies were thick and were swept into piles. I suspect they would then scoop them up with shovels because the piles were getting high. Happy camping and if you head north and see us in a park up here, don't hesitate to say hi.

We love the trace as well. We have been going to Texas and Louisiana for nearly thirty years and roads are bad but we never travel over 100 kmh. There are fantastic state parks on the way ~ comparable to Ontario parks. You were in too much of a hurry. Enjoy your summer. We are not camping this summer. We were boned in Indiana on the way home. Truck and trailer totaled. Still fighting with insurance company on truck. Trailer completely covered~ Aviva Insurance.
@CampingwiththeColes Жыл бұрын
I agree with the 100 km/h. That's why the trace doesn't slow us down much. If the interstate has a 65 mph limit we're going 62. If it has a 70 mph limit we're doing 62. If it has a 75 mph limit we're still doing 62. So on the trace with it's 50 mph limit, it's not much slower than we normally go and it's a straight, more direct route meaning less distance. Similar time from point A to B as interstate but stress free! That's too bad about your crash. We hope everyone was all right. Makes our little axle issue seem minor compared to what could have been.

Awesome video guys, I love your reviews and day to day ... this is what happens when you travel with a trailer. We just finished a 49 night east coast tour with 2 weeks in PEI. We stayed at "tranquillity by the sea" campsite in between Cavendish and North Rustico, if you guys love seafood, your headed inn the right direction. Our trailer is an offgrid trailer so we dont need electric or water/sewage. Bring your bikes, lots of trails by the ocean, be prepared that if you want to cross the hiway, the cars will actually stop in both directions to let you cross...in Ontario, not so much. We made detailed items on everywhere in PEI, whereabouts are you guys staying in PEI ??

Great video with the details of your encounters along the way to Texas and back. We have done many trips from Ontario to the Southeast US with our Keystone Outback and F150. Road trips are hard on vehicles and trailers. Before one trip a few years ago to Myrtle Beach State Park, I had the trailer brakes and bearings serviced at a great truck/trailer repair place in Milton. They found that the welds holding the suspension in place were broken. They installed a new suspension kit (Dexter E-Z flex) and new Goodyear tires and fixed the welds. There is a very noticeable improvement in the ride quality with the new suspension. On long trips with an overnight stop, we like to stay at KOAs or private parks with easy on/off highway exits and pull through sites. Do you have any plans for a new truck and/or RV in the future? Keep up the great videos. Where to next year?
@CampingwiththeColes Жыл бұрын
We did a road trip to P.E.I., and we posted the first of 3 videos last Saturday. Part 2 comes out this Saturday. Thankfully we had no truck or trailer issues on that trip. Just some advice on your trip through Quebec. Hwy 40 along the north shore of theSt Lawrence river from Montreal to Quebec City is much smoother than Hwy 20 on the south shore. We did the trip to Tadoussac Qc. last summer and we are doing Newfoundland this summer and I will not take Hwy 20. I have traveled most of North America as a truck driver and believe me Quebec roads can be among the worst

@CampingwiththeColes You're probably well passed the planning stage of your trip, but if possible you should consider the Long Sault parkway as part of your trip either east bound or homeward. Good camping and historic route attached to the creation of the St Lawrence Seaway. Well worth seeing. As far as taking autoroute 40 instead of 20 you get to see a lot more and you cross the bridge at Quebec City as well as a smoother road

Was wondering if there was a reason why most of the time you guys use state parks and provincial parks,,,instead of private campgrounds,,,,just being curious
@CampingwiththeColes Жыл бұрын
That's a good question. We haven't stayed in many private parks. I think we like the idea of it being a little more rustic and authentic being in a provincial park or state park. That being said, we don't have much experience in the private parks. We also like the idea that we are supporting taxpayer funded parks rather than parks that are for profit for private individuals or companies.
@raphaelcamden9407 Жыл бұрын
@@CampingwiththeColes that is a very good point,,, i figured partly was because of the rusticness of it, but was also wondering if the state parks are or seem to be a bit cheaper also…looks like Texas was a pretty quick trip ….sorry about the mechanical issues that happened but good to see you made it home safe and sound

Hi Ben, I've been reading various internet treads regarding requiring a TPMS system when traveling in the US with a camper. Is there a law requiring you go have a TPMS when crossing the border into the US from Canada? I'm planning to purchase one and saw your video, however my tire pressure is 80psi, so I cannot purchase that model given it's max is ~70psi. Thanks!
@CampingwiththeColes Жыл бұрын
I never heard of that TPMS requirement. Doing a quick Google search I see that all trailers in the US are required to be built with TPMS since about 2005. There is no such rule in Canada. Regarding the border, I see that if an American imports a vehicle from Canada to the US it may be required to have TPMS but I don't think that applies for just driving you're trailer across the border for you to use. I think that's only for importing a vehicle that an American purchases in Canada to use in the US. I was certainly never asked about it at the border. I hope that helps.
