The cut scenes, story and narration for the Homeworld games were on a level that made every sci game look foolish by comparison. I never played the games, but always marveled at the cinematics. They would make Carl Sagan and Arthur C. Clarke proud.

***** Homeworld's story takes on a larger scale, unlike StarWars or Halos, which focus more on the individuals. That leaves a profound feeling for the players to think, interpret by themselves. Me, personally, freaking love this feel!
@MichaelGroesbeck9 жыл бұрын
Yuwen Taiji It does & doesn't. But certainly the scope that it took to explain it was more grand....although I think Star Wars & Halo still have the opportunity to exceed the Homeworld Series. After all, they are all Journey's of the Soul. This is all religion, in adventurous format. It's purpose is to activate the greatness within you, by touching upon the very image of God, piece by piece, & then finally as a whole. It's just short of God & Godhood, because The Journey continues...& that is where we get all these awesome games. :) The Hyperspace Cores are Thought, Feeling, & Action. The Hyperspace Gates are Possibilities & Opportunities. Karen S'jet is basically Aphrodite, our adopted mother, who represents Feeling (empathy) Makaan is technically Hades in this setting, who represents Thought (psychopathy) & is purposefully used as a "Sacrificial Ram" to fight against in order to give you Artificial but real Challenge (Chaos that is not actually necessary for your development, but is used to accelerate it). The Bentusi confuse me a little bit, but they appear to be sortof the balance or something. Idk. However, in real life, Makaan appears to be more like the current enemies of Freedom, found here at home (America & The West) & in the Middle-East (& soon to be all of The East). I could go over & over the rest of the details, but absolutely, this game is good religion.

that1dude0092 They're outsourcing the franchise to Blackbird Interactive, THE ORIGINAL CREATORS of Homeworld. They're the senior developers of Homeworld that left Relic Entertainment to create their own studio. They're currently working on Homeworld Shipbreakers which will be a prequel to Homeworld 1 set on Kharak. (Originally this project was called HARDWARE shipbreakers completely independent with Homeworld but Gearbox and Blackbird signed a contract which allowed them to use the IP and obtained more funding for the game). I am actually extremely pleased with how Gearbox handled this. I was worried when they bought the Homeworld IP but they're actually doing it right this time. They're handing over the development to the original creators. It's too bad the narrator and the voice actor for the Bentusi (Campbell Lane) passed away last year );

Thanks for uploading this, but the title of the video needs to be fixed. These are homeworld 2's cinematics, not homeworld's. Also the aspect ratio is off. Take a look at 3:00 in your video, specifically the circle in the center of the screen. Now look at /watch?v=LFXjGWmTY64&t=2m30s (the video should start at 2:30 for you. Just add youtube.com before it since youtube won't let me past full links.). Notice the circle is a perfect circle.

I have no idea why they abandoned the realism of the first game for this strange, quasi-religious theme in the second one. One was hard sci-fi, the other tries too hard to be mystical and ends up sounding stupid.

+Mr unitato. the progenitors built two means of interstellar travel, one a massive network of hyperspace gates that are in fixed positions around the galaxy, the other, the hyperspace core is essentially a mobile hyperspace gate meaning that any ship that houses it will be able to transport itself and any ships in formation anywhere else in the galaxy at any time.
