Homeworld Remastered - 1 Hiigaran Battlecruiser vs 4 Hiigaran Destroyers

The Hiigaran destroyer is probably one of my favorite ships. No fancy lasers or other energy weapons - just a big ship with big, powerful cannons. I also love the thumping sound the cannons make each time they fire.

For this to be a proper fight, the cruiser need a wing of embarked strike craft of some kind. It has the hanger for the exact reason.

I mean, if the HW engine was more advanced, the design of the battlecruiser would have completely nullifies the destroyers. The battlecruiser while forward facing can deflect pretty much any mass driver shell It comes across... Plus it actually being slightly cheaper than 4 destroyers would have made it actually cost effective which is something you don't actually see on other super capital ships of other franchises.

​@@Eradicator-jv9xr Unless it was changed, the BC is 4k credits, and each Destroyer is 2k. So this BC is half the price of the fleet of 4 Destroyers, and it would have taken 2 of them with it had it not changed targets. So it basically is a hard counter already, even without strike craft.

@user-nv1qp4jr7p True, but that only applies for tech. Once you pay for it, the BCs will keep pumping out, and become more and more cost efficient as the game goes on - if it doesn't end beforehand of course. 😀

Even the strongest ship can indeed be swarmed by multiple smaller ones. This proves the point. Also, that Planet Killers theme kinda fits with the epilogue of the match, hehe. 😂

It's funny to refer to Destroyers as small, swarming units. But compared to BCs they kind of are. Now Destroyer captains know how Frigates feel!

A group of bombers or pulsar gunships from thr battle cruiser would’ve been more the likely fight Battle cruiser is a carrier that sticks around in a fight after launching its strike craft or corvettes. Use those to target the systems and the BC to finish it off thr disabled destroyer.

In the original game, a battlecruiser burns a destroyer in 2 salvoes of ion cannons. The battlecruiser is capable of killing 5-6 destroyers without any problems. The destroyers in the video have the survivability of a battlecruiser.
