Eventho i always have found Homeworld2 being the superior title in the franchise.... Deserts of Kharak is def a better rts game for competitive setting , because of the perspective and map usage... high ground, controlling the map etc... in hw2 it's just empty space and no tactical advantages to be had...

Personally very impressed with Slammin's play. He knew how to juggle with what he had in his hands and make the right call (to attack or to pull back), yet at the same time stay aggressive enough to maintain pressure. May not be as creative as My Car's methods, but very steady, stable, and misfortune-resistant.

One would hope that Homeworld 3 will have some tools to help with Casting. like a DPS meter, an Income meter, and a number of ships on the filed meter for each player to start with. Looks like the Camera Tools are pretty good or you are just very good with the camera work and commentary.

I think one of the best things about Remastered is that thanks to there being four different factions you have so much more variation in multiplayer matches than you would in either of the old games. Only way it would be even better would be if the Kadeshi and Turanic Raiders were their own fully fleshed out faction too. Maybe add Somtaaw in as a nod to Cataclysm fans. I only hope HW3 has this sort of faction variety to it. (I also hope that things like Progenitor and Bentusi tech has finally become more widespread so that a sense of real progression is felt across the games.)

Love the videos. I played HW2 and Cata back in the day and recently picked up HWR. Im curious how does the multiplayer balance work with the HW2 races creating squadrons against HW1 races only making 1 ship at a time?

Thanks. The balance seems fine, as individual ships build faster. We play on the 2.3 balance patch, which is better than vanilla.

those vaygr assualt frigates are nearly useless against corvettes(about as good as drone frigates in that respect) also not noticing the fields from the defence fighters... intersting

btw, dreamlands, you missed to mention the vaygr players aevanced usage of the carrier, he docked his newly made lances and later stopped autolaunch from his carriers to mass a critical number of them, which he launched later to engage the vet swarm. Also, that said vette swarm did not ripple his resourcing op was a critical error at that stage of the game.

It was a balancing act, Rawr was keeping up enough pressure that I couldn't lay off his strikecraft without incurring losses. My thinking was the lost investment in all of his strikecraft and the carriers would keep up with the amount he was gaining from those 4 collectors. By the time I had that area cleaned up middle was getting sort of dirty so I pressured and never really got back to those collectors til the end, but it wasn't a bad choice, we won after all. That being said he knew his race and was knowledgable of the advantages that come with the HW2 fighters coming in squadrons, those free repairs are fantastic. Rawr played well.

So I haven't played Homeworld MP in years, but what's the deal with all the MP maps having everything on one plane now? Where are the good 3D maps like Tree of Life?

Fafhrd42 there are so many maps and a lot have “off plane” resources just happens to not be this one. As for using the 3D feature it really depends on what you’re doing. For example having bombers in small formations coming from above to hit subsystems is most effective. Hiig vetts like to be below everything so they have higher uptime with turrets. Again if you just play MP you’ll see these aspects often.
