What a lovely home and hostess. The home is a beautiful renovation and demonstrates excellent taste (my opinion, of course). And the owner/decorator is a lovely person who has survived much adversity, it seems. The portrait of her brother along with the story brought tears to my eyes. Good people often have suffered substantial losses. I appreciate seeing this home, and I wish the best for the family that occupies it.

My English Victorian house, built 1870, also has several bay windows and a lot of light. We tend to think of Victorian homes as rather dark and over furnished but they loved light coming in. I have so many windows in my house that it is a bit of a trial keeping them clean … so I basically just ignore the finger marks and do something more interesting!

Loved her story about the lemon plate...I was looking for a Waterford decanter at an estate sale that was pictured in a china cabinet on an estate sale website. Thought it was gone but as I was circling one last time I found it abandoned on a side table in the living room. Got it half off for $25.00. (a $200 decanter)
