??? Canadian homes have furnaces that provide central heating through a ventilation system that runs throughout the house.

I know right. Hail our friends in Canadia and thank you for your support. 🇨🇦 & 🇱🇷 😊 Seattle is latitude 47 and Toronto is much further south on latitude 43. Of course she said she is 2 hours north but I'm going to guess her house is still fairly south of Seattle. There are other climate features at play but she is not in Wasilla's latitude at all. I looked it up so I hope that helps. There's a dip in the us/can boundary near the great lakes.
