Each episode it's getting better and better. But this seems quite a jump. GJ GJ GJ

Impressive work. I like that your test print model has some practical use. Much better than printing toy boats and coins.

Thanks! I am also no friend of wasting time and energy with printing things other than parts for machines or robots, but now I found at least a way to turn these back into raw material for another project. 3D Benchy printing will be carried out in the future, simply because anyone with a 3D printer knows what they look and feel link on their own machine. Back into the blender afterwards ;-)

Nah, i refused to print Benchies for like 8 years but now i love them. They allow easy comparison between printers and settings and demonstrate a number of possible print quality defects which are likely to bite you on a larger more complex print, which would lead to more waste. It doesn't take up too much time or material.

you are a great inventor, thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise

very nice results! congratulations

this is the type of tinkering you should directly send to Josef Prusa. If they were to turn this into an actual kit with great documentation and give you some commision for the design I would buy it asap :D

Not too hard to make a copy if this one. However, there is still a lot to tell about preparing raw materials and V5.0 isn't the end of my extruder evolution. Stay tuned!

Considering your skillset and the tools available to you, along with the precise and repeatable output you strive for, I think it would be well worth spending some time truing up the spindle and chuck on your drill press. Keep up the great work!

Thank! Yes, this is for sure the lower end machinery and sometimes I am surprised that it finally works. ;-)

Thanks for your work! I look forward to building one of your future versions of this extruder! Have you decided on how to automatically refill the extruder yet?
@HomoFaciens7 ай бұрын
The extruder design evolves quickly, so waiting a bit before making a copy is a good idea. I will talk about the refill in one of the coming videos. That part of the design is currently under construction...

So cool! Sorry if you mentioned it, and I missed it, but how does this do retractions? Does the auger reverse direction, and that cause suction? I'm really enjoying watching this process of you refining this idea. Thank you!
@HomoFaciens7 ай бұрын
It has been mentioned in previous videos of this series: Yes, the direction of rotation is reversed. More to reduce the pressure in the Extruder rather than actually cause suction.

Would be interesting to see how it handles increased nozzle diameter. I havn't printed with 0.4 for many years, using 1.0 for almost everything (functional prints only).
@HomoFaciens7 ай бұрын
Functional parts printing is what I am doing as well. I will talk about material throughput and nozzle diameters in (at least) one of the coming videos. Stay tuned!

are you using your blender method to create the plastic granules?
@HomoFaciens7 ай бұрын
Yes. More experimentation on the preparation of raw material will be carried out in one of the coming videos. Stay tuned!

@@HomoFaciens Thank you very much for your work! i wish i had kept all my failled 3D print all those years for this. maybe in the future a special head will be mass produced for a low price so it will become more easily done.
@HomoFaciens7 ай бұрын
You're welcome! Well, the heap of failed prints in my workshop really needs to be crushed to raw material. Lots of work ahead...

Can any plastic bottle be shredded and used? Milk jugs?
@HomoFaciens7 ай бұрын
This depends on: (1) the material the bottle is made of (2) whether or not you can turn them into
