My son moved to Honaker a year ago. Why? I have no clue but he said it's beautiful. That's fine with me. It reminds me of Remington, Virginia where I use to live. I loved that little town.

Just wondering if anyone remembers me or my father, I am Jerry Shaw and my father was Donald. He was the Chief of Police there and in Lebanon for 30 years. He retired in 1985. That was the same year I left for the Navy in San Diego. I really miss home. This is a great video. I had Mrs. Bartee for english class in 1980.My mother Gladys use to work at the Piggly Wiggy and the City Grill back in the 70's.

With the passing of coal our town along with the rest of Appalachia has struggled. Family from around here goes way back before my grandparents can recall generation after generation. I believe there is hope for Appalachia and Honaker. While things may be depressed now it will eventually turn around. My dad, a Joyce and was raised in Richlands, and works at the walmart in Lebanon while my mom whose maiden name is Ball trains to be a pharmacist down in Oakwood. Someday when we get the money my mom and dad will retire on my grandpa's farm up by Big A and long from now I hope to live up there myself. God bless.

Wow Kathleen Taylor is one of my favorite teachers ever. I graduated from HHS in 1986. I won something in the very first Redbud essay contest. My daughter won Little Miss Redbud.I haven’t lived there in years and years but it was a wonderful childhood.

Thank you for the kind comment. I still have some of the Christmas cards Frank gave to my father back in the 70's. They are very funny. I was just looking at them a few days ago. Please tell your father I said hello. He knew my mother Gladys too. She passed away in her sleep back on Dec. 29, 2013 at the age of 89. Thanks again, Jerry
