Thanks you just helped me set timing on my 300

You are totally welcome. There’s not much on KZbin that clearly shows you how to do this. Hopefully I changed that.

what ever i do the marks wont align with the head there always a bit off, do you have any ideas? thanks

Replace the chain and cam gear. These parts wear out and cause the problem you having.

@@mtwz71 thanks but my chain is very tight what could cause that, it should be loose.
@mtwz714 ай бұрын
@@philipthemechanic5782 There is a timing chain tensioner on side of the head. Most of them are spring loaded and need to be reset if you do remove the cam gear and timing chain. Some of the aftermarket timing chain tensioners use a manual bolt. I like those better. Look to see how to reset the time and chain tensioner and that will help you set the time and the chain tension.

I'm having trouble getting the cam on the gear. Did you go straight down putting the cam on the gear. Installed need chain but the cam gear doesn't want to fall into place?
@mtwz71 Жыл бұрын
I install the cam in the head then I pull the chain up past the cam make sure the chain tensioner is all out of the block and not causing the chain to be in a bind. then the next thing I do is I slide the gear down between the chain in the head carefully holding it and align the timming marks up and then install it on the end of the camshaft and put the two bolts in I hope that helps

@@mtwz71 thanks so much. I think leaving the right hand chain tensioner in the block is the problem, I'll take out tomorrow and try it. Thanks again!
