I have two favourite sedge patterns, this one, which I have always known as a Baloon Caddis, and the G&H Sedge. Both very productive in the evenings on the Barrow and it's tributaries.

An Austrian friend of mine introduced me to this fly 30 years ago or so whilst on a fishing trip to Austria. I tie it in a variety of sizes. Works also for Grayling as well. Like you, I tie the body quite sparsely. Roman Moser is a very well known fly fisher in Europe, incredible caster and fly tier. Tight lines

Fly originated by Roman Moser [Austrian] George. Named by him as the Balloon Caddis. Made ever the more popular here in the UK by Oliver Edwards. Nice slant though. Always enjoy.

With that yellow it looks a bit like a bee. Maybe bees hitting the water as a result of the evening sun glare are good eating for trout?

Hi, I love your content but on this pattern I have to disagree with you. This fly I fish on a grub hook usually a size 12 it brings trout and grayling up all season all times of the day … I use it on the Derbyshire rivers .
