Great review, thanks. No Accord currently available in the UK, which is crazy, as SUV mania displaced it from around 2014. If you see a taxi driver crying, this is why. So Honda perfects a model over many years in a segment with no real competition and then drops it. Another reason to emigrate to Aus.
@chasingcars4 жыл бұрын
Sad to hear. SUVs have really damaged the ability of passenger cars to compete. Not every SUV is bad, of course, but the inherently better dynamics of low-set cars will never go out of style with us.

Wish they would. As another commenter has mentioned here, there is a right-sized Acura being built in LHD that would make for a great Accord Euro base. As the Octavia RS / Passat 206TSI show, there is a market for more than just 150 units per year...

Correct, Ash. Sadly, the two-litre and its pair of gearboxes are not being built out of the Thai factory, so Australia has been shafted in that department.

Not when you consider that those "euro" options you quote will probably cost the unfortunate owners time and money (even when under warranty) getting to/from work/dealership when, not if, they go wrong. It is well known in the industry that European care are unreliable. It amazes me that people pay so much money for those poorly built cars and then pay a huge premium to have them repaired. I'll buy a Japanese built Mazda, Toyota or Honda any day, even if they do cost a couple of thousand dollars more.

True, it is a very soft market right now. Still, there are plenty of people dropping 47-50k on a midsize SUV. Should the Accord be on their consideration list? Perhaps.

@@chasingcars 1. I'd rather have a car that's from Japan rather than Thailand. 2. Top ranger Camry is ~$45 v/s ~52k for the petrol models. This goes for the hybrid as well. 3. Styling is better on the Camry. 4. Camry has cheaper service prices (even though they're both capped price servicing). 5. Other smaller bits and pieces that make the Camry feel humanised than the Accord. Honda Australia don't inspire me to buy their cars. There's nothing on there website that makes me want one. I Love Honda's, but I hate this cars ugly American style big chrome nose job. I have a 2010 Accord Euro which I wanted to replace with the next gen Euro. Sadly, Honda discontinued it and have given us an old mans American cruise mobile. I still want to buy a Honda as I love the quality, but the next one I looked at, the Civic looks way too outlandish with its rear end. Guess i'll have to stick with my Euro (which is still going beautifully at 100,000 km) until Honda gives us another decent driving option...or maybe i'll buy a Lexus.
