That’s mostly because being wealthy doesn’t automatically make you a car enthusiast. All of us who spend our time watching car reviews, if we hit the lotto, I’m sure many of us would get ourselves at least a couple highly desirable sports cars. Someone who has a family business that took off in the early 2010s and just wants to live a comfortable suburban life for themselves and their legacy probably is much more keen to drive around top trim models of regular cars. If they’re extra stingey, they probably don’t replace it often.

The accord is simply one of the most humble cars out there. Nobody raves about them by any means but it’s simply a great car for the value for the price of average new cars nowadays. I had a 2014 (9th gen) that was a 4 door stick shift and I miss that car dearly.

Yeah, I have a 2013 manual Accord. So engaging and fun, even if it's just a family sedan. Much better than it had to be. I kept it, even when I bought a 2020 Civic Si, and then traded the Civic in for a Genesis G70. The Accord is objectively worse than the Genesis in many ways, even most ways (after all it ain't a luxury car) but it is a lighter, more involving and more engaging car in most driving scenarios. Definitely more engaging because of that manual transmission.

One thing I appreciate on this generation of Hondas is that they've kept controls simple. They haven't replaced physical buttons with captive touch systems or done things like made the climate control something that is run through a touch screen. The new Hondas can be learned in seconds by just about anyone which is not something you can say about many of today's overtly complex cars.
@TheShodown220
@TheShodown220 8 ай бұрын
Honda learned their lesson a few years ago, they removed the physical volume knob and climate control knobs and integrated a touch screen volume and a frustrating climate in touch screen which made you have to wait until the the unit was booted before you could make changes. A lot of people complained and thankfully Honda switched back a few years later.

The Accord came out in 1976 and immediately became a hit because of the value proposition. All the things that were typically options on American cars.....power windows, tinted glass, tachometer, console, etc....were standard on the Accord hatchback. I ordered one at about $4300 as I recall, in the days when dealers did not add "market adjustments" on high-demand cars. After a couple of months, I got tired of waiting and bought a used 1973 Porsche 911T for $6800 instead. I eventually got my Honda's, first one being a 1981 Civic Wagon, then a 1986 Civic Si, then a 1988 Accord 4 door sedan. All great cars.

I just bought a '23 Hybrid Touring. I love it. Savagegeese called it an "AI-designed sedan" and yeah I can pretty much agree with it. That's the thing, I wanted my daily to be as practical, efficient, reliable as could be. While there's nothing crazy about it, it's so painfully competent I have a hard time complaining about the lack of flair, there is nothing that upsets me at any time about the vehicle, it just works, and it does it well. Sound system is nice, seats are comfy, mileage is great, hybrid powertrain has more than enough oomph in traffic, steering is relatively heavy and has feedback, infotainment is essentially flawless. Digital gauges are cool, configurable but not insane, I get maps in the gauges and a head up display that works well. Maybe my only complaint is that the wireless charger is a bit finicky as far as positioning goes, but it still works, just have to watch to make sure it doesn't move off the pad. Could use a larger barrier. Also, I've gotten several nods from Dads in their Accords, so that's a perk of dubious but amusing value

Honda makes a good amount of sedans. The Civic, the Accord, the Acura Integra and TLX. So-called SUVs are getting lower and closer to cars every day. Look at the Hyundai Ioniq 5. That's not very high up off the ground and really isn't much taller than some cars. And the sedan shape is now called a "coupe SUV," but really, they're tall sedans. Calling a sedan something else and raising it is marketing. Sedans haven't lost their appeal, people just have become infatuated with sitting up higher. Though some of us don't like the high seating position. I don't care for it.

I did not like this new design at first, but I gotta say it looks great. Definitely grew on me. It has to be the touring trim though with those wheels. Almost resembles an Audi A7. I believe the brake lights and turn signals light up in the dash when being used to show the driver if the light has gone out. It's hard to notice rear lights when they go out when driving as you're never back there to see them unless you turn on your hazards and walk around the car to see. In the past and even still, most automakers added a feature where the turn signal light blinks twice as fast to indicate that one of the turn signal lights has burned out. but with the display, you can know if it's the front or rear

Excellent point about the build quality and reliability. My father had a UK spec 2003 Accord (Acura TSX in USA) from new and ran it for 17 years. It wasn't just the fact it ran like a clock for the seventeen years with just regular routine maintenance but also it felt like a quality well built product with no sqeaks and rattles after nearly two decades on crappy Scottish roads. You simply wouldn't have got that from an equivalent MB C-class or Audi A4. They pretend to be high quality but the Japanese built Accord was/is the real deal. Fact.

I test drove most if not all the available sedans in this market segment before deciding on this Accord Touring model. None of them came close to the refinement of both the interior and exterior and polished powertrain in this new 11th gen Accord. Accelerating is effortless, buttery smooth and ultra quiet. The infotainment screen is one of the best (if not the best) in a sub-40K dollar car. It leads nearly all the safety categories in IIHS testing among its peers. And, it achieves some of the highest efficiency ratings from any mid size vehicle being produced today. My wife drives ours and is getting 55-57 MPG over the last 10K miles, most of which are city. This new Accord is as close to an all electric vehicle without ever having to plug in. Again, I test drove every available brand in this price range and had a smile on my face only after getting into this Accord.

It just has a totally different mission now compared to my car and offers no passion in driving. My '21 2.0T is powerful and incredibly fun to drive. I really wish that Honda offered the 2.0T in the new car. Yes, the fuel economy is stellar but I would much rather have the performance and power of my '21. Best review ever. I love it when you review bland average cars and clearly go out of your comfort zone. This is the people's review a la Volkswagen DeMuro edition..Fantastic, thank you!

People do complain about this car losing the 2.0T, but the take rate of the 2.0T on the previous gen was extremely low. It just wasn't worth certifying it. The hybrid had a higher take rate so that's what they focused on.
@Teku175
@Teku175 8 ай бұрын
They also didn’t make many 2.0T’s. Honda doesn’t have an ordering system, they just allocate cars to dealers. If a dealer didn’t have a 2.0T in stock or on allocation, tough luck and go to another. Day to day I see about 30% of all 10th gen Accords on the roads being 2.0T’s (not including mine).

I had a 2.0t and it was a phenomenal engine. Honda got rid of it not because it’s too much to certify but because they want to differentiate between the TLX and the accord. Last generation’s accord had the same 2.0t as the TLX. They’ve reserved it only for the TLX from now one.

@@NVIDIAGeekify Big shocker that someone with the name of a company known for being difficult to work with and screwing over their customers at every turn gets confused when someone is explaining market realities. We're in a recession right now. Honda simply cut out the engine that had a low take rate since it wasn't worth keeping it. That's all there is to it.

I like that you can display the navigation and the radio on the same screen at the same time. Or the compass and the radio. One of my biggest complaints of my 2018 Accord was that you couldn’t display the radio station at the same time the navigation was displayed on the infotainment screen.

I wish they would reintroduce the accord crosstour. It might be a good fit in today's market. Also I miss the old school acura zdx it was ahead of it times with the fast back trunk style

I'm kinda on the fence about increased driver assist technology like blindspot cameras. It often means new drivers don't develop the basic skills required to safely control the vehicle they're operating. Too much dependency on available 'safety features' and driver assist tends to have people focusing on things inside the car instead of looking outside and actually driving. It also makes them terrible drivers when they're in a different vehicle without those same features, and aren't used to physically checking their blindspots or for pedestrians crossing.

I wouldn’t say it makes them bad drivers if they are in a vehicle that doesn’t have those features,matter as fact it would make them pay attention more probably. I had a 2021 Kia K5 until someone rear ended me and totaled it. The car had pretty much every safety feature available today. I think one of the most convenient safety feature that is out there is blindspot monitors,other stuff like lane assist is kind of annoying, yes useful but I don’t mind having it. Though, when I was borrowing my one of parents cars it did feel weird to drive cause lane assist wasn’t on the car,but I still didn’t have trouble driving it. But I did end up driving their 2014 Honda accord which actually had lane assist.
