You literally saved my car! I had replaced all 6 spark plugs and still had four misfires. I was about to sell it way below the price i had bought it for due to the misfires. Turns out, one bad ignition coil caused all 4 misfires. 75$ for the ignition coil and 5 min of labor saved me a loooooot of money and stress. THANK YOU

Thanks for doing this video Michael. It helped me diagnose a misfire problem on an Accord with a V6. Your presentation was very clear and concise. My code reader reported failures on multiple cylinders, but in reality only one coil was bad, and your video helped me find and fix it quickly and easily.

I had a P0301 and P0302 misfire codes on my 2000 Odyssey. I used your method and found that it was cylinder one's coil that wasn't working. I replaced the faulty coil, unplugged battery to clear CEL, and now it's running as before. Thanks for making the video!

Spot on!!! I had the same bunch of bullschidt error codes. Everything was fine with my 2003 Accord 3.0L V6 (214,000), until all of the sudden it wasn't. The engine would still start and run; but it was shuddering, making a little racket, the exhaust smelled of incomplete combustion, but there were no back-fires or overheating; with the check-engine light flashing. DO NOT continue driving with these conditions, as the engine is sending unburned fuel into your Catalytic Converter and will eventually plug (or foul) it, resulting in a very costly repair bill. Looking at the error codes, MANY repair shop people put me on wild-goose chases; probably because it would mean more $$$ in their pockets. Honda really dropped the ball here, spitting out a lot of errant error-codes like random mis-fires, instead of narrowing it down to the only cylinder that was actually mis-firing, which is exactly what it was. Thanks Mike, your video is explicit and concise. A $43 part held by one 6mm Allen screw, that can be swapped out in ten minutes by a grandma, even on the back side of the engine when it's still hot. So I'm going to carry a spare coil in my trunk, in case this happens again on the highway. Dude, you saved me SO much time and money!!! At least a day without the car, and $300 (or more) in shop repairs. The only hard part of this repair was finding the right video.

Computer at the auto parts place said EGR valve was the reason for cylinder misfires. Changed that and only slight improvement. Came across this video and it was exactly it! identified ignition coil not firing as per instructions here, replaced ignition coil and back to normal!

Thanks so much for this Mike. Originally booked my 03 EXV6 in to the shop to have it checked out, then started poking around on KZbin. Found your video. Cancelled the shop. Funny, I found the bad coil on the first unplug! Front left coil. $80 CDN and all is well. Cheers and thanks, Mark from Canada.

Thanks Michael, shop quote my girlfriend 700 for repairs and said 4 coils were out. I tested with your method and found 1 coil was bad so it ended up costing 50-60 after I changed one coil and a few spark plugs. Hello Mike..thanks for your video. I have a 06 v6 accord and all the cylinders are misfiring and my check engine light blinks..just like in the video, but the more problem is that it also have a rich mixture (excess gas consumption) . How do I fix it please, I took it dealership and they charged me almost $750 n it's still misfiring. Please I need a clue. Thanks.
@ProjectLexVideos10 жыл бұрын
The excess gas consumption might be caused by a bad catalytic converter. If you continue to drive while your car is misfiring the catalytic converter will melt down. It's important though to solve the misfiring problem before replacing the catalytic converter or else it will happen again.

Hi Steven, The symtoms I was having while the coil was bad are rough idle, lack of power, flashing check engine light and felt like it had a misfire. Your symtoms seem to be caused by a different issue. Does your car have any trouble codes? what color is the smoke? A possiblity of bad timing or bad valves. Its hard to say. Can you make a video response of the car running demostrating the problem? Maybe somebody or I might be able to help. Good Luck!

I've experienced this exact problem. My car was idling rough, the check engine light flashed exactly as in the video, and the code checker showed the same codes. The car also gave off a strong sulfur-like odor. After replacing the coil, is it also necessary to change the oil (perhaps oil and gas getting mixed due to a bad engine coil)?
