This video will show you how to replace your power steering pump and pulley on a 2007 Honda Accord 4 cylinder engine. This will also work for Honda Accords from 2003 to 2007 6 cylinder engines. I explain every step and every tool needed to complete this job. If your power steering pump is squealing or leaking then you will need to replace it. Squealing doesn't always mean a bad power steering pump it could also be a bad O-ring in your power steering hose check out my other videos on my channel to learn how to replace that. If the O-ring doesn't work then most likely you will need to replace your power steering pump.

My moms 2004 Honda power steering pump went out. They quoted her 600 to replace the pump and the hose that connects the reservoir and the pump. I think this video just saved us at least 300 bucks.

This video is detailed but not boring. I've been wanting to replace my tensioner with a new belt and to do that, the PS pump has to come out. Now that the pump is actually leaking, I have a legitimate reason to do this procedure. Not too long ago, the top hose was leaking at the crimp where the rubber meets the metal. I replaced that, but now I need to go further. Thanks to this video you've provided for us, I'm confident I can pull this off. Thanks!

Thanks for this awesome video. I just replaced the power steering pump on my 4-cyl Accord. Overall a very easy process, thanks for showing the angle of the belt because I was confused about how to put the belt back on for a minute and realized it just needed to go under the tension pulley. The only thing I did notice on other videos is that Honda recommends that the power steering fluid be flushed out of the system when putting on a new pump so that old fluid isn't being pumped through it.

hell yes. good video bro. very detailed. "you gotta finagle it" haha. btw, do you happen to know the torque value on the pulley nut? and do you have to bleed the air out of the power steering system afterwards?
@ucanfixit1
@ucanfixit1 3 жыл бұрын
I read that the torque spec for the pulley nut is 47 lb-ft but I didn’t torque it I just tightened it pretty tight and it’s good for me still no issues. As for bleeding the air out I would, plus it won’t hurt. Good luck!

@@ucanfixit1 thanks bro. how do you bleed the air out of it?
@ucanfixit1
@ucanfixit1 3 жыл бұрын
@@planchik All you have to do while the car is on just turn the wheel all the way to the left and hold it a couple of seconds not too much and then go all the way to the right and hold it a couple seconds. Repeat this maybe four times and you will be good. No more air in the system. JUST REMEMBER DON’T HOLD IT FOR TOO LONG BECAUSE YOU WILL DAMAGE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. You’ll be able to hear it and feel it when your doing it.

Hey thanks for watching! And to answer your question mine was not it was regular.
@jmayor_
@jmayor_ 2 ай бұрын
I know this video is old and I know I'm not that strong but my nut doesn't tighten as tight as yours. I am using leverage and I am using the right size nut. So my thing is, my original nut was not properly installed by my personal mechanic (not sure if purposely done or accidental.) But the nut "slipped/fell" out recently while I was on the road.
@ucanfixit1
@ucanfixit1 2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. Without actually seeing what’s going on it’s hard to come to a proper conclusion also assuming you mean the nut that holds the pulley on and just going off of what you said it sounds like it may be an issue with your threads it could have been done by mistake from the mechanic which caused it to cross thread and when this happens it only tightens to a certain point then loosens again when you try to tighten it more. The only way to fix this issue is to 1) Use a tap and die set to repair the threads or 2) replace the bolt that’s cross threaded which would mean replacing the power steering pump again.

Does a new replacement (not original pump) better than used and rebuilt ones?
@ucanfixit1
@ucanfixit1 3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching and as for your question new is always better than rebuilt and definitely better and safer than used. The last thing you want is to put a used one in and it doesn’t work then have to do the job twice. As for rebuilt those things are hit or miss so I personally stay away from them whenever I can help it. Hope this helps.

Is it really necessary to do a flush after replacing the pump, or can you just add new fluid on top?
@ucanfixit1

Hey thanks for watching! The o-ring did not fix my issue. I knew if it didn’t fix it then it was my power steering pump but I always go with the cheapest route first which was the o-ring. If your having the same issues I’d try the o-ring first because it is known to leak. Good luck!

Hi. You used the same old pulley on the new power steering pump. HOW do you know if the actual pulley needs to be replaced or not as well??? Thank you.
@ucanfixit1
@ucanfixit1 Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching and commenting I really appreciate it. The pulley is just a wheel that comes off of the power steering pump and as long as it’s not bent, cracked, broken, or worn you can reuse it. Just make sure to inspect it well when you get it off the old pump. The actual pulley wheel rarely goes bad but it’s possible. Hope you subscribe!

What was the reason got this repair , and did you change the fluid , I heard that you should change the fluid before installing the new pump?
@ucanfixit1
@ucanfixit1 3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I changed the power steering pump mainly because it was whining and squealing alot. Also my A/C wasn’t blowing as cold so I knew the pulley/pump was going bad. I first tried to replace the o-ring in the lower hose of the pump because usually that is the issue and least expensive but did not work for me so I changed the pump and it’s great now. Also A/C blows cold again. As for changing the fluid it’s not mandatory but always good to do. I didn’t do it I just added more when I was done changing the pump to top it off. To this day 4/30/2021 the pump is awesome and no issues. Good luck! 👍🏽

@@ucanfixit1 Appreciate it. There's a ratting noise coming from my engine bay (07 Accord 2.4l). It matches engine rpm. My mechanic told me it was the serpentine belt tensioner.
