2003- 2007 (7th gen) Honda Accord V6 power steering pump replacement

Nice video! Not sure if there will be a next time, but you might consider loosening the 19mm pulley bolt before taking the belt off. The belt will prevent the pulley from moving. Also, removing the pulley before taking the pump off may give you easier access to the 12mm bolts holding the pump to the block. Just giving options for future DIYers.

Great job in showing all the steps and the required tools needed for this project. Having a rag to protect against PS fluid spills on the ground while removing the pulley would have made it a perfect video. I also enjoyed the nice music. Thank you.

The power steering reservoir has a fine mesh filter that gets clogged over time. Take it off and clean it out. Once you've emptied it try blowing through the top tube while blocking the return line hole to understand how much restriction occurs. Even though it may look clean mine was blocked enough that it starved the pump of fluid and would make horrendous whining noises after 20mins driving. Before replacing the pump try this first. It may save you a lot of time money and effort.

I would look up bleeding procedure before starting car - can be metal to metal contact if there are air pockets in system. It consists of raising the front wheels and turning wheels full lock about 40 times while checking the level and looking for bubbles. Once bubbles stop and level remains constant you are good to go. Great video though, helps prep for todays job. just thought I'd throw that out there. Thanks!

Hello there DIYDad. Another DIY’r here. Just wanted to say thanks for the video. A friend just texted me, asking if I could swap out his PS pump on an 03 accord. I just wanted to get an idea of the difficulty involved, so off to KZbin I went, lol. I watched about 4 videos including yours, and I have to say, everything I needed to know from fastener size to amount of torque was in the video. Once I have removed the bolt holding the pulley on. The pulley is stuck on there and won’t come off. You made it look so simple by just pulling up. Do you have any advice?

If your pulley is stuck try putting 2 pieces of wood to hold up the pulley. Put the nut on the threads again just enough to be level with the top of the head. And the hit it with a hammer. Putting the nut prevents it from warping and not being able to come out. Similar to the ball joint trick. Let me know if it helps.

Hello very informative video!! By any chance do you know if I can use a regular wrench to remove the 19mm bolt from the pulley? Or do I need to use a impact wrench?

If you could get good leverage to get it out with a wrench you definitely can. If youre going to do it that way I would suggest removing the nut before removing the pump from the engine.

@@campos9896 I would put a screw driver like I did to keep it from moving. But keep it in the car because you'll need it to not move while you use the wrench. Unless you have a bench vise then you can take it out and put it on the vise.

OEM parts are usually of much higher quality but depending on the part they can be double or triple the price. For this part the OEM replacement was alot more expensive so it was worth a try.

@@carloslaend1635 Oh sorry I missed that. Yea for Honda Pumps always use Honda fluid. They make noise when you use other fluids. They some some different additives in their fluid. For an aftermarket pump I would go with whatever good quality product you can get.

Hey man so I know this video is a few years old but I just used this to change my pump! Went smoothly BUT the two 10mm bolts at 1:38 unfortunately broke into the old pump while removing them. I cannot find a replacement for them anywhere and I’ve tried some generic 10mm bolts thinking it would work but the pump keeps popping off from the pressure. Do you by chance know the part number or what I should be asking for? Lol

Enter this part number into a Honda parts website and it should pull up all the parts for that area with part numbers: 95701-08040-07. From there you should be able to find the exact bolts you're looking for if its not the one I listed.

I've seen similar on eBay and my car makes noise in the morning but when it warms up the noise goes my Hoses are good I've seen similar on eBay you think I should go for it help would be appreciated I already liked the vid and going to sub soon

It is not the OEM pump, I put in an aftermarket pump because the OEM was too expensive.

@@Lifesituations8000 The rebuild kit is cheap but if it not done correctly it will leak. Aftermarket pumps are not that much more expensive than the rebuild kit so I would rather go that route.
