Thanks for sharing your experience with the AT. I own a non adventure DCT 1100 which I picked up recently. I came from a Supersport Daytona 675r and so this is a big departure from my previous riding style. I’m still learning how to live with a big ADV. This video really helped answer some of my questions. All the best and ride safe.

Hi Manideep, thank you! The availability of regular consumable parts like filters, oils, brake pads, etc. is not an issue at all. I've never faced a delay for regular services. However, in the case of non-common parts (for an accident vehicle for example), there can be a delay for the parts to arrive, depending on the type of part.

Hello Bosky ! Kudos to the content you guys are bringing up. Been an avid follower and admirer of your channel since I stumbled up on your video a few weeks back. I have a quick question for you Bosky, I have booked the 390 adv and I am still waiting for the launch of the spoked wheel version. As no information is available on what to expect for Indian market, what do you think ? - should I really wait for the model to launch or go with the existing one ? The tube tyres are giving me nightmares as well. But heard in a zigwheels video that adjustable suspension is gonna come up to front and rear ends. Confused to the core. Any leads/suggestions would really help. Thanks man.
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated. The alloys are more than capable of handling what we will put them through. Unless it's motocross or rally raid. The spoke is more for USA and Europe where punctures on road are non existent and so they don't mind the tubes. Here in our country the case is quite different. The alloys and tubeless bring massive peace of mind and an assurance against unexpected punctures. ZigWheels may be making news by making some statements. So it's a choice to believe or not. If I were in your place, I would buy the alloy and enjoy the ride. Never mind the non adjustable suspension. Cheers!

These are good features, but he has not explained the problems like disconnecting Android auto and apple car play. Very high windshield which is not of good quality, less visibility in rains and muds. TPMS missing, heated seats missing. Backlight in the button console. Removing the seat and again putting back qualifies a trophy competition. This is my AT owner experience. Lastly the stock head lamps, not good u need to add auxiliary. But still I am satisfied and love the bike in competition bcz these are workable areas.

Thanks Aniket. To respond to some points mentioned by you, 1. Connectivity issues of AA/Carplay were resolved with using genuine cables supporting high data-transfer speeds (Like MFi certified cables for iphones) 2. I have cut the windshield to resolve this issue. This is mentioned in the video. 3. I have added after-market TPMS that I missed mentioning in the video. However, this is a good-to-have feature and not a problem. 4. Agree, backlit buttons should've been there. It's a part of my wishlist too. 5. Agree on the stock headlamps being inadequate, but for some reason, this is true with most motorcycles. Wishing you a safe and long ownership! Cheers!

Good info. But I was expecting the owner to say a word or two about the weight of the notoriously heavy Africa Twin, just like its cousin the Super Tenere 1200. Bosky missed to ask that. I think the owner never took it off-road. Please note .. what we call offroad in India is basically bad roads. Offroad is specially designated roads where only specialized offroad vehicles are allowed, atleast here in the US. In India I noticed in many bike and car review videos .. we call bad roads as off-roads, which is technically incorrect. Off-road is short for off the road. Bad road is very much on-road. 😊
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks. The owner perhaps does not think the weight is notorious hence chose not to mention it and I too did not bother asking. And your valid point noted. He has been on the Spiti Valley circuit which is pretty rough terrain. We do not have any specifically designated "off-road" circuits per say like in the US. So, can't comment on that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!
@haasn46
@haasn46 Жыл бұрын
Thanks dikiban! Few points I can think of: 1. The 1100 has shed some weight compared to the older 1000. Plus mine being a manual is lighter by about 10kilos compared to the DCT. 2. The Asia-spec version of the AT is lowered by 40 mm compared to the Euro-spec. This results in a relatively lower center of gravity as well, making it easier to manage the bike. It does not feel top-heavy compared to some of the competition. 3. As Bosky mentioned, I have traveled through Spiti valley in India which is considered challenging in terms of terrain, especially the water crossings. I also have done some weekend trails around the city I live. However, my usage is about 70-30 on-road to off-road. I don't intend to do serious single-track trail riding on this unless I have no option to do it to get to where I want.
@dikiban

@@haasn46 you are being humble and modest. I have watched youtube videos by some motovloggers doing Spiti road. You Suhas have True Grit to venture out there trying to tame your big iron-horse at those heights and narrow ledge-roads. Speaking of which, I have not seen anyone tame an AT so well as Toni Bou. Look him up on youtube. Cheers .. and keep the shiny side up and rubber side down.

@@bigbearbangalore agreed, what I meant was that many people don't consider buying a Honda because of its higher sticker price and end up buying, say, a kawasaki which seems like a VFM proposition. But kawasaki more than recovers their money through higher service/maintenance costs. In the long run, kawasaki will be more expensive to own. Most people don't realize this. CBR650R vs Z900 will make a good comparison. Yes they differ in character, outright power, etc but similar in price. At the end of a 3-4 year period, will be interesting to compare their ownership bills!!

@@ngprabhu82 Hi.. the windshield mod was done at XTorque in Kalyan Nagar Bangalore. However, it's not a complex job and any good mechanic should do it. Just ensure you exactly measure how much of it is to be cut.

Does it heat up during the city ride bumper to bumper traffic
@haasn46
@haasn46 Жыл бұрын
It's a 1100 cc engine.. so some heat is there. However this is subjective.. if you compare it with a similar displacement Ducati, then this doesn't heat up at all. If you compare it with the older AT1000, the heat felt is marginally higher. Overall, the cooling system is fantastic and the two radiators do their job well and even when the fans run, the heat is not directed towards the rider. Also, I don't feel much heat when wearing riding pants and boots. It's only felt if you try to ride with shorts and casual shoes, which is anyway not recommended.
