2024 HONDA CRF1100L AFRICA TWIN UNBOXING & ASSEMBLY |DCT + RALLY PACKAGE

In today's motorcycle unboxing video I'm unboxing a brand new 2024 Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin with DCT and electronic suspension. I'm assembling and review this new adventure sports motorcycle and installing the L3 Rally Package and the Aluminium Travel Package. The rally pack comes with an additional shift lever so you can use your feet as well to shift gears. I also install the battery and do a first cold start so you can hear the Africa Twin exhaust sound. I also do a little bit of adventurous riding through the Honda dealership to test it out. Honda is also bringing this 2024 Honda Africa Twin to Spain for me so I can ride it at a Honda event for 3 days in Bardenas Reales.

Still one of the better looking ADV’s. Had an AT AS DCT for a couple years. Terrific bike. Terrific system. However, one doesn’t need a clutch lever… until one does. You know it when it happens. I returned to them, but have nothing bad to say about the DCT or the Africa Twin, apart from its top heaviness and the need for a backlit and/or less complicated left hand switch configuration. If anyone complains about the PDI costs for a new bike, they need to watch one of your unboxing videos. What takes a skilled (and bike-specific experienced) mechanic two or three hours, would take me five or more, with lots of profanity. 😂 Thanks again for sharing! 🍻🍻🍻

Finally Africa Twin 👍I own a 1000 DCT for some years now, DCT is super great when you start to get used to it. It provides much more stability by shifting gears in corners and lots of fun on gravel roads. But don't be disappointed, it is tricky to lift the front wheel😅 Keep up the good work!

The 19" front wheel will make it handle better on the freeway at speed than a 21" front wheel. I think keeping this bike on the pavement and touring is where it will shine! Comfort, dependability, and great fuel range!

DCT has 2 clutches. Just no clutch hand lever. DCT best innovation in the past 50 years.

@@PatricioGarcia1973 Good point. But any modern motorcycle that needs a computer for diagnosis is a bad choice. If adventuring in the areas you mention a 1980's GS is probably the wisest companion. Anything with fuel injection and an ECU is a recipe for disaster. DCT is no more or less reliable than any of the modern design elements in high tech motorcycles. My NT1100 has had zero issues but I live in Thailand and the riding conditions and available support is good. The only way I would take a trip to the remote areas you mentioned is if I had a satellite phone and a buddy with planes and helicopters! 😁 Or a chase truck with all the spares and tools like in the Paris Dakar! In Thailand years ago my BMW R1100RT suddenly stopped,,, in the middle of nowhere. With some minor investigation it was not getting fuel. I finally gave up called a truck and flew home. The BMW repair dealer fixed it in about 5 seconds. The fuel injector relay had worked it's, way lose. He pushed it back in and it was perfect. Except for a costly truck trip and airline ticket! All fir a loose relay. Obvious I'm not an accomplished mechanic and at 70 yrs old not keen to do roadside work in 40 degree C 100+ F. So my roadside repair efforts is limited before calling out the cavalry. 😁

Thank you Smokey for your videos and humor! (don't change when you get to 1, 2....M subscribers!), I watch them when I have the chance. This one was important to me because I have a 2017 AT DCT... and a AT video by uncle Smokey is special! haha. Mine has 45000 km and never had any issue. I go to Brussels 3 times per week and pass between traffic, even though it is not design for that, it does it very well, just the front a little heavy and difficult to manipulate (between the cars...hehe), maybe the 21" Wheel? Anyway, as I said it is not the ideal bike to ride in the city but even tough that, it does it exceptionally good!! Waiting for the adaptive cruise control and the change on the bulky handlebar controls to get the new one! Ride safe!!

Had the distinct pleasure of riding two brand new bikes (both Africa Twins, both DCT) off the showroom floor. And my first one (also Africa Twin, also DCT! Yes, I like Africa Twin DCTs) I had shipped to me, so I had to do my own unboxing. Don't forget, the bike DOES have a clutch, it has two of them. Its in the name DUAL Clutch Transmission. They're just electronically controlled.

I’ve owned many bikes over my 72 years of living and over fifty years of riding. Still own three bikes and the AT DCT is one of my favorites - by far. But, don’t let anyone tell you the DCT is an automatic, it took me months and much distance over varied terrain to unlock its secrets. Hated it at first, love it now. Hoping Honda will put out a 2025 edition with subtle (ol’fart) graphics, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot functionality.

If it's not horsepower or a big amount of changes it's not worth the money to be honest. Honda a du me rembourser mon Africa Twin adventure sport neuve car il y avait un défaut d'alignement des flancs. L'écran aussi n'était pas perpendiculaire à l'axe de la moto. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi Honda ne rectifie pas le problème car à priori je ne suis pas le seul à voir le poste de pilotage de travers !!!

Not a big dilemma. What do you want? If you want a more sporty bike buy the 160 bhp 1290. If you want more comfort for you and your passenger buy the HAT with DCT.

nothing to do with the colour of the loctite, its what materials the loctite is being applied mainly e.g. inactive materials. However an activator will shorten the cure time and assists in cold temepratures and large gaps between the material surfaces.

@@jmpb3487 because I dislike all automatic gearing, I want to control the bike. Especially offroading. But this is my personal preference

@@MrPaulo1400 You can always only have manual mode. This is what I do all the time offroad with paddles. This, replacing the foot selector and the hand clutch. After 30 years of good old mechanical gearbox, since 2 years I appreciate the DCT for Africa in these conditions.

@@jmpb3487 not for me, I tried the DCT to have an idea and it was clear for me after I gave the bike back that I don't want it, and I have 20 years of driving motorcycles and still loving my clutch 😁

DCT is awesome. My wife has NC750X DCT and it's as fast as my Kawasaki Veryss 1000 SE LT+ with doublel of HP. DCT make it so much quicker... I was against the idea until I brought her new bike hone from the dealership. My next bike will be DCT for sure.
