Thanks so much for making this video! After my 98 accord A/T started slipping bad I almost decided to get rid of it until I watched this several times. After a lot of determination, lack of a transmission jack, or experience for that matter, & a trip to the Pick n' pull to scout out a $115 used rebuilt A/T to pull from a donor car, I was able to tackle this successfully. Now my Accord shifts better/stronger than ever. Thanks again for the video! 👍👍😁

I just bought a remanufactured transmission for my v6, they are common for torque converter failure. My new one has all chevy guts runs on same dextron 4 like chevy's. More viscous fluid much better for flow in the tiny selonoid. Gonna see what she can take with upgrated valve guides shift kit and better torque converter.

I think on the sub frame you should mark exactly where it goes back for alignment issues maybe . i could be wrong though

shermdeazy yes you’re right but tbh I’ve dropped plenty of trans with subframes and I really don’t notice alignment being off after doing everything but it is recommended to get alignment after messing with suspension, that is the correct thing to do

How much time would you estimate lapsed between pulling the battery & the trans dropping down, not counting meal/hydration/bathroom breaks, etc? I'm figuring 12 - 14 hours, no air tools.

Is this process similar for a 4th gen Prelude? Just wondering for the day my clutch has to be replaced. I guess the main thing I'm wondering is if the subframe has to come out on the Prelude like this one did

yep, the Prelude subframe is a little bit different compared to the Accord physically but same process

Hello, Thanks for the video. We have a 1990 Honda Accord with an automatic transmission. My son's first car and we just changed the timing belt. Now this. When shifting into reverse it makes a grinding noise but does not engage. Drives fine in all forward gears. Will cleaning screens or replacing the solenoids have any effect in this case? Could the shift linkage be out of adjustment. Also, sometimes the transmissions shifts fine into reverse. Is it controlled by pressure? We have only had this problem two days and can't make rhyme or reason why? The car is probably only worth $1000 but we have spent that much fixing it up besides. Appreciate any tips you might offer. Thank you for your time. It is much appreciated.

@@aquaticnstuff7666 Thank you for reply! Does the Transmission needs to be removed and disassembled in order to fix the 1st hold clutch? Did you mean it Sprang? Is it a spring mechanism? Can I tap on the casing or anything else to fix it without removing the Transmission? Are you a professional or a Do it yourselfer? Thanks We have not been able to use our Honda car for over a year because it does not shift into reverse. All the forward gears are shifting perfectly. Makes a terrible grinding sounds when shifting into reverse. We just shift out of reverse quick into neutral. I start the car every couple weeks till I can figure out the trans problem or replace it.

It’s to hold the engine up since took off the mounts or else it’ll just be hanging...

@@SwishLifeGarage oh I know what it’s there for but I usually put a board under the pan so it just not sitting on the jack stand that much weight on the oil pan will punch that jack stand clean thru

Lucky me - my 94 only has a 3 point crossmember - basically a 2 point lateral crossbrace with a separate removable longitudinal leg down the middle holding the engine. Way easier - might not even have to drop the crossbrace. :)))))
