If the filler plug was left in at first the oil flow would be more controlled. I had one of these years ago, great motor! It had a more colorful hood. I sold it and bought a 15, that was a lot heavier and had more vibration. The 10 was very smooth with two small pistons. Later went back to the 8hp classic, not as pretty but pretty much the same motor rated in prop hp instead of power head hp. One change is the old ones would shut off when put into gear if the oil was low. The later models would sound an alarm but continue to run - It's up to the skipper to choose whether to shut it down or run it low on oil. Depending on the tide, current and rocks it just might be a decision to take. :)

A very good video how to change the oil on a Honda b100 outboard. I myself have a Honda b75 outboard

Good video thanks!! Do you have the video of the gear oil change?
@WiscoBoater3 жыл бұрын
Yep! It’s in the playlist for the B100, or search my channel. 👍🏻👍🏻

Pretty sure when checking oil you do not screw in cap/stick to get accurate reading. Read Manuel last night. Just aquired an old 100. Runs like a top. Thanks for videos
@WiscoBoater2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And you are correct. I missed that in the manual. 👍🏻👍🏻

I thought you checked the level just sitting the dipstick on top without tightening it same as a Honda mower motor
@WiscoBoater3 жыл бұрын
You are correct Loyd…I learned that after making the video. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for the video I have the same outboard. Do you know how to change the pull cord?
@WiscoBoater3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had to do that yet, so unfortunately I don't know how to at this point. If I ever do, I will certainly make a video on my experience...but I know that doesn't help you right now.

Thanks for the video. Looks like you check the level with dip stick screwed in. I have the same motor but 7.5 and pic near the fill up cup confused me. How to check level with dip stick crewed or not
@WiscoBoater Жыл бұрын
You are correct, the oil should be checked with the cap unscrewed.

And.. there are no oil filter??

There is no fuel filter on this engine.

@@janarhaug Also, no oil filter...I find that odd too, but there isn't one.

I just picked up one of these motors and the owner said it hasn’t been used since 2001. What basic maintenance should I do before I try and fire it up?
@WiscoBoater Жыл бұрын
First thing I would recommend is pulling the lower unit and changing the impeller...22 years of sitting, that impeller is probably dry rotted and starting it before doing that can quickly ruin an engine that isn't circulating water. That's the big thing. Other than that, check the thermostat (probably rusty, change that out), change oil (lower unit and engine), change out the plugs, check the fuel filter, and I'd also overhaul the carb or put a new one on. I'd bet the gas in the carb has varnished and the float likely will be stuck. That may lead to replacing the rubber fuel lines...that's an easy job tho.

Hi I have a Honda B100-1014046 runs great but my green oil light is out, do you happen know where I can buy one? Thanks
@WiscoBoater2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's a standard bulb inside the dome...if the dome comes off. I don't own this engine anymore, so I can't go check on it.

Hi what is the difference between a B100 Honda 10 HP and a BF100. Thanks

How does 200+200+200+150 make 800? I think you may have incorrectly read the dipstick, the plot is not that complicated; don't screw in the oil cap for an accurate reading.
@WiscoBoater2 жыл бұрын
You are correct about screwing in the dipstick, a couple people have mentioned that in the comments. 200/200/200/150 made 800 because of the dipstick being read after being screwed in. And...not sure what you mean by the plot not being complicated, but I agree with it not being complicated...the description says it is SUPER easy. LOL Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

Perhaps it would have been a lot easier to pour out 150 ml and pour the remaining 850 ml of oil in the bottle directly into the motor???
@WiscoBoater3 жыл бұрын
If I hadn’t been checking the calibration of the dipstick, that is certainly an easier and quicker way. 👍🏻
