I feel sorry for anyone that is a slave to comparing bikes based on specs. The only way to truly compare is to ride them. The bike with the greatest 'specs' on earth may become the bike that you despise a couple of months in. Things like ergonomic feel, handling, vibration, comfort, brake feel, etc just don't come across well on a spec sheet. In the end you'll end up much happier buying a bike that you truly enjoy riding vs buying one for spec sheet bragging rights. This particular bike can hit triple digit speeds in ~7 seconds from a dead stop. Picking a different bike based solely on having more power starts to feel pretty pointless for the street.

I could gotca ktm ,ninja,mt10 etc but they to futuristic for me ,this bike looks hard ,very well made and has look of its own, that engine looks fantastic, the power is there too ,lethal machine ,but also has great feel at low speeds.

Think you have nailed this TBH. Having literally just bought one last weekend I chose it because it’s a classy, real world road bike and we all know what Honda’s are about. I could have gone for the KTM, or Tuono but I don’t want that extreme a bike, I don’t have the skills or inclination to razz my licence away either.

Your right. I bought a tuono factory during lockdown. After 8 months of riding everywhere in 2nd gear I got the cb. Alot better road bike and more enjoyable to ride.

The beauty of the suspension on this bike is that you get a choice of comfort, racing or anything in between. It's the only thing I'm missing on my 650R.

I think it’s powerful but tractable, great for the roads unlike those very powerful bikes

Hi Eddie, another great review & It's a good looking bike for sure. It's a pity my wallet and garage couldn't stretch to having more bikes! I'd be happy if you could review the Kawasaki Z900 I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

I had already made my decision to get a CB1k before watching this video. And, I don't have it yet. It's at the dealer getting prepped. But, you've also confirmed my buying intentions. I'm an older guy (56) and am getting back into riding bikes after 35 years. I don't need a super sport or a super naked. I just want to ride fairly comfortably. I was initially looking at the CB650R and even thinking, puh 90 horsepower is a lot. Then got to sit on the 1k and it just felt better. I'm 6' and the 650 felt a bit "tight", even if it is just a few mm difference, the 1k just felt better. I'm happy and can't wait to get my new baby. :-D

I had a CB650R for 2 years, and am 6 foot tall. I bought a 2020 CB1000R this spring. I agree the 650 was a bit smallish, but still very fun to ride. I do prefer the 1000 however. Braking is better...handling on the highway is better. It just feels more stable. The only downside is gas consumption. Not great.

Such a great bike. If you think it’s fun now, you should try one with a full exhaust system and Woolich tune. I gained about 20hp and evened out the power delivery to remove the flat spot around 6k rpm. It totally transformed the bike and now pulls like a rocket! Smiles for days 😆

Good in depth review I like it but next to a 900 rs the looks would sway me to the Kawasaki . : )

Likes: power, adjustable suspension Dislikes: electronic throttle Cannot abide the latter because of the former, gonna have to keep the 650.

How did they de-tune almost 40 hp from that engine? And why? Should have used exact same engine as the cbr 1000rr

Hi Eddie What would be interesting is why you decided on the MT09 if you were considering the CB1000R. Regards Denis

I've asked many others, their overall opinion is the cb feels more better as an overall package, better finish, smoother motor, quicker, retro look, suspension feels better then base mt09 suspension, the rest was either they perfect linear power or power off tap
