Honda CB300F iDEA Gear Indicator

Resetting and Reprogramming an iDEA Gear Indicator on a 2016 Honda CB300F. This motorcycle does not have a gear indicator from the factory. I installed this indicator so that anyone that I am instructing will have a quick visual on what gear they are in so that they can learn to relate speed and rpm to gear position.

Had mine for a few years and accidentally reset it or reprogrammed it riding home after work today. Looked everywhere and couldn't find the instructions. Tried disconnecting the battery and the gear indicator with no luck. Finally found this video and you saved me. Getting ready to sell this bike and would've hated to have to remove this as it's pretty helpful for a new rider on a smaller bike like the cbr300r. Thanks for a great video man!

Thanks for the video! I eventually reset mine ok. I KNOW you say it in the video but: remember to turn on and off 6 times when it is counting up and showing 3 or 4! I must learn to listen better! 😂

On crf 250 rally I set it till the O in sixth gear but when I get down the gears it still mark "6"...any idea to solve it?

I don't know. I've never removed my battery for anything else on my CB300F. In fact, this is a 2016 with only 1200 miles on it. It was bought as a learning bike and was never used that much.

No it stays programmed till you reset.

What does F sign means ?

I think F means failure like it’s not seeing the engine turned on.

I think F means “filtering”, or something like that. I think in F, you can somehow change the amount of time it takes for the indicator to learn the gear. Probably useful on something with low rpms and low speed. Not positive but that’s what I remember seeing somewhere.

we reset and set several times and it still shows wrong :-(

I’ve set my 3 times and didn’t have any problems. I’m sorry that it’s not working out.
