Even though the tank capacity is mentioned as 10L on the website, it can actually hold 11.5L+ for those long rides when there are less fuel stations around. I'm getting a mileage of 32kmpl in the city when riding sedately. On highway it drops down to 28kmpl when ridden between 100-120km mainly because of high wind blast. I also keep the cold tyre pressures at 24psi during summers because of bad roads and stiffer suspension. That is another factor for low mileage. In 6th gear at speeds between 60-80kmph, its capable of giving 36kmpl, but its difficult to keep myself from thrashing the engine around now and then😅

This bike is with me , for more then 20 months now, amazing light weight nimble compact bike, power is 30 BHP, much more then Himalaya or RE 350, KTM200, but the most important feature is amazing mileage of 40 plus kmpl and and refined engine performance, probably the most refined engine in India in single cylinder 300 CC category.

Highly recommend chain and rear sprocket replacement for the CB300R. I have replaced my OEM chain/R.sprocket with a DID 520VX3 chain and JT steel oem tooth sprocket. Bike is smoother, more quiet, and so much better at all RPM for response and smoothness. Also K&N filter for intake, huge difference across entire powerband but REALLY helpful for smooth throttle input at low speed. OEM rear sprocket has a metal ring guard around it. The teeth are thinner as a result, and this ring + the teeth make a LOT of noise. Stock chain binds and clinks a lot too..and is heavy. I'm upgrading the front brake disc to EBC, and pads as well soon. Also recommend the Luimoto seat covers. Brilliant for more comfort and much better look.

And lots of other plasticky bits. Doesn't really compare to BMW's build quality. And vibes? The new model has significantly lower vibes plus it's a single cylinder so there will always be some amount of vibes. Expensive to maintain? Depends on what you call expensive. For me, a major service every 10,000 km that costs around 6 - 7k INR is perfectly fine and I can do the minor maintenance work (chain tightening, lubing, engine oil change etc.) by myself.

Do you think this bike will be really intimidating to handle? I was considering meteor but discarded it because of the weight. I am 67kg 5' 7". If not this then probably I have no other option in the retro space unless Yamaha gets the xsr155 to India. I may well end up with Fz-X which is on the line for release. Nice review as usual.

Strell bro .... There are some things in consideration to bike a bike , they are as follows - 1. Price - it is in Duke 390 ball park ... With 30 bhp power , more limited pillion space, only 10 litre fuel tank and poor headlight ... Honda kills itself with pricing. 2. In india, any touring enthusiast, considers a bike as touring machine anything above 200cc .. but this machine again fails to deliver ... Poor tank capacity, poor luggage carrying capacity, poor headlight and many more to mention. 3. CKD factor - does it matter to a buyer ? A buyer buy a product with his/her hard-earned money to get a machine to fullfill his/her expectations, ambition, purpose and sadly CB300 couldn't lived up to the expectations or CB300 couldn't read Indian sentiments. Indian buyers give it a dam whether it is CKD or Indian made, they only knows the value proposition and honda, having been here for more than 30 years should have learnt it by now. 4. Too costly to be a commuter - Really ???? Is there any person in india will think twice to pick Duke 390 over CB300 ? Forget Duke 390, duke250 will provide more feel to a rider than CB300 in city commute. Then what is the utility to buy CB300 in India? Honda messed up everything with pricing ... It should have been in the dominar territory. Though dominar provides way better value , still it could have an upper hand with its refinement. But still, it's cramped seat and 10 litre fuel tank is suicidal. I personally think ..... if anyone wants refinement , go with interceptor or GT ; if anyone wants everything .... go with Adventure 390 , Duke 390, or even Adventure 250 ; if anyone wants pure VFM then there is always Dominar 400. No offense to anyone .. it's my personal observations 🙏
@iamstrell4 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, thanks for your insights. Let me explain my views about this. Before that, I dont want to support the CB300R as such because I am not benefitted in any way, but it gave me an awesome ride for 2 weeks. 1. Pricing is a huge factor when it comes to the Indian market. Clearly, when we have vfm options like Dominar and Duke, CB300R is not going to get into consideration by a buyer who looks for vfm. Eyes closed they can go for a Dominar 400. 2. I have also raised the negatives you have also mentioned, but cannot really agree to the point of luggage. Because I was riding this bike loaded and it stays planned with my saddlebags, tank bag, and tail bag. Headlight and tank capacity is something we cant fix, and it's a huge negative. 3. It might be true for many, but certainly when it comes to motorcycle enthusiasts, it does matter where the bike is made from :) I like Ducati's for that reason and German motors as well. If someone has a habit of looking into the manufacturing details on everything he picks on from the grocery store, that person will be caring about this. Nevertheless, the quality of the bike is excellent, than Indian made Honda models. (Not being an anti-Indian here, but the standards used on Indonesia is way far above than what manufacturers used in India) 4. I really don't compare a Duke 390 to a Duke 250, because I have done thousands of km on both bikes and they have a huge difference in their character. So downgrading from a 390 to a 250 keeping eyes closed is not a good idea. Coming to our point, Keeping the price apart, the CB300R matches with the Duke 250's character of riding. But certainly if one has to ride a Duke 390, 250 and CB300R inside dead city traffic for more than 2 hr, I will say a CB300R rider will feel more comfortable because of exceptional refinement, less heating, lighter clutch and the comfortable rider footpegs. Finally, I also ride a BS3 KTM RC390 still :D . I don't show that in my vlogs, that all. In a frank opinion, there will be less injury to a CB300R when you drop it compared to a KTM. No hates in saying this. But I have dropped a CBR250R and KTM RC390 on the same trip almost in a same way and the results was completely different. KTM broke its brake lever and clutch. 250R had a bend on the clutch lever. Finally, I agree to the point that Honda messed up with the pricing and availability for service centers across India. Also less care to enthusiasts.
@dronkrishna80044 жыл бұрын
@@iamstrell bro , you have made your points crystal clear and your observations are very practical. And I still feel honda should have priced it aggressively for its success. I think honda should come up with good future plan for its Bigwing prospect as only CB350 won't help them to grow. They might have the success in scooty and 125 cc segment, but 250 to 350 cc is very tough challenge for them. Honda should price their products aggressively as VFM machines are doing great numbers. I have one small request to you ... you see, two wheeler manufacturers are providing saree guard as per norm , but many manufacturers don't even provide a crash guard as standard fitment , which is bizzare. Please urge manufacturers to provide crash guard as standard just like saree guard through your videos. Thank you so much.

Nice conversation, by the way sorry for jumping in actually. So the question is why would someone buy this bike Honda CB300R, despite so many cons. Ok let me tell you, I own this bike for more then 20 months now, and the reasons behind choosing this bike over it's competitors, are many. 1st reason is bike's weight , 147 kg much lighter then Dominor 187 kg. It's very easy to handle in city traffic, for a shorter frame guy like me. That's why despite being 30BHP it's power to weight ratio is much better. Second thing is honda refinement reliability, as I said earlier probably the best engine in 300CC, single cylinder category, when I said best engine means, very less vibrations, very less engine heating compared to any KTM any day. In terms of mileage too, best in its category, you drive it in optimum way, not harshly, you will get 40 plus mileage. So with a 10ltr tank, you will surely get 350 plus mileage, Third most important feature is servicing and spare parts cost, despite being a CKD unit, First three servicing are free, and paid services would also not cost you much. Spare Parts cost are also very less, though quick availability of the same ia questionable. Now the cons, cramped rear seat, seats are a bit hard for long tour, Stock LED headlamp is noy quite good, it's not a tourer bike, basically a street city bike with occasional touring bike, thus need some accessories like rear carrier, even tank is plastic so need modification for magnetic tank bag. Third part accessories are very rare to buy here.
